TV guide when using 2 different Homerun devices

HI. I am not sure if anyone else is using 2 different devices and having no issues with it, but I am running an HDHomerun Prime and an HDHomerun Extend. I just hooked up the Extend last night due to some issues I am having with the Prime.

Since one is an OTA device and the other is a cable device I added two lineups on the Schedules Direct section. I added the OTA lineup on my account at the SD website as well.

When I go to do a guide refresh it is hit or miss as to which channels come up with guide data. Sometimes the channels for the OTA tuner populate and sometimes only the Cable channels populate and even once I had all the Cable channels populated and one or two channels on the OTA device populate but not all schedules for that day.

Anyone using two devices like mine and not having issues? Maybe I have something set up incorrectly?

Here is my log just in case:

they're currently going to get grouped together. we'll have to consider this scenario in the future.

Hi Luke,

Is there any update on this being able to be done?

I had another thought about it and I wonder if there is some way to "trick" the additional channels listed from the additional tuner to pull in the same epg data to those. I ask because those channels are the same ones as the cable channels, just coming in on a different tuner and source. This would give me 5 tuners to be available.

I did try to play with the metadata but nothing I changed seemed to do it.

No. Not until there's more demand for this

Ok, I understand. Thanks for the response.

I am bringing this request up again because I noticed that tomorrow night I am going to run into a possible problem with 3 shows I am recording overlapping each other. Since I have two different types of HD Tuners they each will have to read two different Guide lineups to work properly.

I have a show recording from 8-9pm then three shows recording from 9-10 and then one show recording from 10-11. I can see that the end of the 8-9 is going to overlap the 9-10 and the the 9-10 is going to overlap the 10-11.

I have one Prime that has 3 tuners and one Extend that is connected directly to the Cable so I can get the local channels that don't need the Cable Card decryption.

The current setup doesn't allow two different Guide Lineups, only one will apply so I can't use the Extend's extra 2 tuners for those local channels to offset the overlap scenario.

Anyone else have my usage scenario that would like to chime in here (and like my original post) so that we could get some consideration to add this ability?  :)

This would also be useful if I am recording 3 shows at one time and I want to watch a live showing on another channel using the extra 2 tuners.

I am also having issues.  The guides will combine but I can't get everything to play.  It seems to work best to route everything through serverwmc but emby keeps grabbing the prime and I keep deleting it from emby but it keeps showing up.  Any thoughts?

You have to disable the prime in live tv settings on the server.  Click on the tuner and un-check enable this tuner.

I've got this issue as well, I just don't record that many shows at once so I've never worried about it.

On the latest beta, if you remove all your tuners and re-add them back, are they no longer merged now?

Luke, I just downloaded Version 3.0.5903.0 and removed and re-added the tuners. It is not merging the guide here at least.

So now you see your channels separately and it's just a matter of being able to add guide sources per tuner right?

Yes, my channels for the Extend are listed separate from the Prime. Only guide data is showing for the Prime.

So, per your post I can now add a guide listing per tuner?

It's in the latest dev build.

Awesome. I will install that and play with it. With that in place and what you have done so far with Emby Theater I feel like all my needs are now fulfilled.

I just want to say that you are awesome, Ebr is awesome and you guys are doing a really good job. I appreciate having software that works most of the time and things that don't you guys are on top of it (even if you don't always tell us you are  :) ).

Hi Luke,

I installed Dev Version 3.0.5917.24817 and deleted and re-entered my Tuners and then added the Line ups with SD and unchecked enable for all tuners and set up a SD lineup for each tuner (I have a Prime and an Extend). The lineup will only give me data for one or the other tuner and it seems based on which one I set up first but it won't give me a line up for both at the same time.

Here is my log if that is helpful:

Did you refresh the guide?

jasonmcroy
Posted

Yes. Guide refresh, server restart, remove the tuners and re-add them, remove the SD guide and re-add it. I get the icons for all the channels, but I only see the guide data for one set of channels like before. However, I never had the channel icons for the other tuner before, so that's something.  ;)

are you sure you configured 2 guide sources, one for each?

jasonmcroy

Yes. I unchecked the box that says "Enable for all tuners" (or something like that) and then the option comes up to check which tuner you want to assign that EPG guide. I selected the Extend to use the guide for "Antenna" and the Prime I selected to use the guide for "Digital Cable".

I just noticed there is an update available too. I am going to download that update and try it again as well.

thanks. with the update, try removing the tuners and guide sources, refresh the guide to clear everything out of the database, then set it back up.

I did all you said above and I am still getting the same results. I refreshed the guide several times, restarted the server and my computer just to try all avenues.

I am including my logs in case there is anything in them that you can find useful.
