Lighthammer 91 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I figured I'd ask this question before I hit the influx of new episodes this season. So my HDDs on my server are getting pretty full and I'm getting ready to toss a new HDD in there. The big question I have: Can I have different seasons of a single series on different HDDs (different physical locations) and have Emby understand whats going on? EVENTUALLY I am going to create a raid and just copy everything over, but thats not going to be a few months till I build a new server, so this is more or less intended as a bandaid.
Logos302 86 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) you could look at flexraid f-raid drive pooling. It's relatively cheap, or even flexraid traid both would allow you to keep your data and pool all your drive together. or even microsoft storage spaces if you are using a microsoft OS. There are others as well. Edited September 18, 2015 by Logos302
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I just use junctions on the file system. The software doesn't seem to know the difference. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa365006%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Windows 8 had all kinds of weird issues with folder junctions I had essentially stopped using them, though I used them all over the place in Windows 7. I'll have to try this. This might be a great solution. @ Luke, glad to hear you got a plan as usual.
ebr 16187 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I would suggest a true drive-pooling solution over something like junctions. There are several that are very cheap/free.
Nathanio 35 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I use cubecove stable bits drivepool on my whs2011 box. Very easy to setup and performance has been excellent. I've been running it for 3yrs now. Very pleased. 3
jdoggvt 4 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 +1 for drivepool. I recently migrated away from flexraid and have had zero issues with it.
Chris Jones 14 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I'd also recommend Stablebit DrivePool.
