Simple Control of Emby (and Emby Theater) from Home Automation

So I've been thinking of a simple way to control Emby from my home automation system.  I currently use Vera, but soon to be moving to HomeSeer.

Windows Media Center, With Emby Classic and a plugin called VMCController gave me a lot of power to call from simple HTTP get CURL commands that allowed me to provide outdoor camera on motion detection, have notifications that timeout after X seconds for home events, and alow me to use my TV as my alartm.

In my upgrade over the next few months, I was hoping to move from Emby Classic to Emby Theater.  My main urgency is Netflix for WMC stops on 9/15 and will need a new interface.

1.  Can I show a webpage in Emby Theater?  I currently call an extensibility URL action in VMCController to show a web page (documented here) for my outdoor camera's when motion outside, like the front door.  In WMC it's pretty cool that video/music goes to PIP mode when web page shown...so it doesn't interrupt the currently playing program...and the webpage is a full screen image that refreshes every second.

2. Message Boxes - WMC also has easy access to message boxes (as shown here or here) via telnet or an HTTP Get command.  Can I pop and info box via Emby Server or Emby Theater?

3. In VMCController, i'm able to tune live TV channel for my morning Alarm when the TV is turned on and tuned to NBC.  Is this an option for Emby Server or Emby Theater?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on running pretty narrow set of commands via a remote HA system over HTTP.

How has this gone for you?  I just started with HA last may and use homeseer HS3.  I am having a bunch of fun automating my exterior lights, holiday lights, hallway lights, and my thermostat.  I would like to enhance my system's ability to detect what I am doing and adjust my environment accordingly.  I made the jump to Emby Theatre about a year ago and am working on migrating all my Kodi front ends to Emby Theatre.  I want HS3 to be notified when any of my media streamers are playing anything.  the purpose for this is to aid in allowing Homeseer to automate:

1.  dimming features in the evening when playing a show or movie.

2.  delay when my home goes to sleep (when the house goes to sleep all my lights turn off and only provide minimal lighting on motion activity.  my next goal is to setup remote shutdown commands to all non-essential systems (Ex: my media players, TVs, and HT Receivers) and remove standby power.  Currently, i manage sleep mode for hours between 11PM and 4AM when there has been no motion on either of my floors for 30 minutes.  this works except for when I am watching a movie and not moving around in the evening.)

also, it would be nice if when a doorbell is rung and I only have motion in the basement, and a movie is playing, a message could be displayed on my Basement Emby theatre interface noting the doorbell was rung.

Not to hijack the thread, but I've seen a couple of different conversations regarding home automation.  Are all of you guys doing whole house automation living in recently built homes?  I live in a 1920's home and found that 99% of my switches/outlets are the standard 2-3 wire w/ no neutral, making almost every automated switch/outlet in existence unusable.

I just purchase a veraEdge and am quite excited with automation options and it already has a plug in for Emby

I think the princess means that emby already has a plugin for Vera

Hi guys! I use vera home control with my home made Arduino sensors, all wired up and coded from scratch. I use a full integrated zwave mesh network in my home.

I also use emby API (fairly fluently).

To answer one question in this thread from @@PrincessClevage (great name), who wanted to know if you could add ip cameras to emby theater... Well... perhaps you could create an Emby Channel plugin (like trailers) which you could, probably, call up you http camera from Vera.

Infact I'm pretty sure this is very likely.

Now before I make it sound like it is something that I could create... I had better mention that I unfortunately have some prior engagements which limits my accessibility.

But, I just wanted to mention, that it is possible.

one cool use scenario might be if motion sensor triggers (e.g front door) and your watching TV or a movie the movie/TV is paused and the triggered camera is displayed with an ok button to confirm and close or a picture in picture is displayed showing the triggered camera

Hi Chef,

I went to add the Vera plugin to emby server today and it is no longer listed, is this by design ?
