metadata "identify item"

After a reformat and reinstall of windows (changed out SSD boot drive) I did the usual things, attached my movie drive and as expected there are a few movies that get tagged incorrectly.

I'll use the example of 47 Ronin. I hop onto imdb, get the proper ID, strip the year, ensure the title is accurate and click search.  This leads to nothing, although its got the little pulsing circle, nothing ever happens.  Even if I take a movie tagged properly and go to identify and just click search, I get the same thing.  I have been trying this for about two days on various titles.

Are there logs to see whats going on with this identification "stall"?

After further twiddling, it seems that unchecking the "save artwork and metadata into media folders" now allows me to quickly modify/identify metadata.  Go figure.

I don't believe there's a stall, and the identify feature doesn't save anything so that metadata setting won't have any impact. But - when you use Identify, it contacts external sites and perhaps that was just happening slowly for you. As long as you're getting visual loading feedback there's no reason to think it's not working. The reason why changing the setting might have made a perceived difference is that some of the data that gets retrieved by Identify may have completed and cached after the first attempt. Then you changed a setting, tried again, it worked faster, so you naturally thought it was the setting that made the difference.

If you'd like to try the dev server that might be helpful just so that the two of us can make sure we're testing with the same version.

will do.. as soon as wife finishes her round of reality television from the ipad in the tub.

As a side note I did get the gpu transcoding working after I won a 750 (maxwell) card.  Didnt have to replace DLL, just edit the encoding.xml and the custom ffmpeg from wiki.  CPU dropped about 50% on a 1080 wtv file.
