Hi

Thank for a awesome produkt (fucking love it)  i have been looking for a plex alternative that allows for use off my own domain and not the need to sign up evry user.

i do have a couple of questions i hopp someone can answer.

1: i use Media Center Master for adding and handle  Metadata,  how can i tell emby to use the existing metadata?  and what's the default name for folder image?  is it folder.jpg ping? can i change it to be folder.jpg png etx?  what type do the Meta ned to be in, is it the same as Kodi xlm nfo?

2: All my movies are in h265 and h264 mp4   how can i tell Emby not too transcode when i'm on certain devices? for example on a computer or a network based android tv device?  Is it anyway also to chose downsampling instead of transcoding to other forms? (i got good network so i would prefer to save cpu power over bandwidth)  maybe you could add a choice in the quality menu for disable transcoding? or that it tries to play without transcoding when it sense  its on a lan/wlan?

3: how resource hungry is Emby compared to plex or subsonic/madsonic?  for example the server i'm using is a powered by a 16 core amd opteron

(model 6386SE)  how many users can it handle on the same time?  ( for plex and subsonic it been around 30 users)

Thanks again for a really good product

/Regards

did you read the options in the startup wizard regarding metadata? because if you did then we need to know what went wrong so that we can improve it.

all apps try their best to direct play rather than transcode. generally, increasing the bitrate settings in the apps is the best way to avoid transcoding.

Hi

No i think i must have missed that,  what should it have said? is it possible to use the already existing metadata?

regarding the transcoding, i noticed that adding mx-player as a external player i does not seem to transcode, (god for my part =)

Probably not her i should ask this question but it's just a suggestion

can you add a chose in the app to alway use external player (like when android ask if you like a specific app to be default for a certain task)

or even do as subsonic/madsonic are doing,  you get linked directly to the external player app on playstore the first time you start it (for example mx-player free version)

Yea the server will always use your existing metadata regardless of settings. that is always first priority.

and for apps, they do everything they can out of the box to avoid transcoding, and many have external player features.
