Library scan not sticking

Here's a new one. Got about 40 tv series in my library. Added another source to add about 15 more on another drive and initiated a scan. After it ran overnight, progress bar was stuck at 16.7 percent (not unusual in all my testing). Looking through my library, it does seem like all the new shows are present although a lot are mis-identified and again, as usual, while browsing on an iPhone and iPad with Safari or another PC with internet Explorer, almost half my thumbnails are missing showing either a blank box with the show title or a blank box with just jumbled letters.

I restart the emby server thinking that may help the thumbnail issue but after the restart, everything that was scanned in over night is now gone.

Running latest emby server beta on an windows 10 box. I will recreate the problem and post logs of bother before and after the restatrt but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this?

Any help guys? My problem is effectively stopping my ability to use Emby since everything except for my first drive scan is available.

Does the same thing happen if you use UNC instead of mapped drives?

 

Why are your substitute paths to media1/2 instead of to TV and Movies?

This is normal until an initial library scan is complete.

Happy2Play, I had read that you only need to path sub to the root level of the share and everythibg else below it would path substitute automatically. I have movie folders to eventually add once I can get this working reliably so instead of having a substitute to each and every folder all I needed to do was sub the drive (media1 is an external usb drive, as is media2 etc.) as each drive fills up, I add another and duplicate the fine structure.

 

The missing thumbnails etc is constant. They never eventually show up. Now since 9 times out if ten my scan progress bar never shows as "completed", it usually gets stuck around 16% or so even though all the media seems to be present (until I restart that is)

 

Luke. My very first scan was media1's TV directory. I then added another source, media2's TV directory. It adds all the media (with all the missing or mid-identified metadata) just fine but then, if I restart the server software, that scan of media2's TV content disappears leaving me with just my original media1 scan listed.

 

Do the logs I attached show anything wrong or something I'm doing wrong? Like I've said in previous posts, this has happened on a nac with directly connected drives and now on a vmare fusion virtual windows 10 PC.

are you sure it's not just acting slowly when you first startup the server? what happens if you run a library scan after starting the server?

It ether gets stuck again at a random percentage or it will throw an error stating that too many files are open.

 

Lets say before adding a second TV source I had 40 shows listed. Adding the second source brings that total up to 55 shows. Waited overnight to make sure everything was actually finished (remember the percentage counter is now stuck so I have no way of knowing where its actually at). The next morning I still show 55 shows with tons of missing thumbnails. Restart the server and now Im back to 40 shows. The second scan is totally gone. Thats why I uploaded logs from just after the scan and then after the server restart.
