CoverArt images downsized in new version.

I just updated to the new Version 3.0.5724.3 and covertart updated straight after, now anything i add to my library is showing smaller images is there any way to correct this behaviour?

If i revert back to the previous version images return to correct sizing. Also it's not just in the latest movies, if i browse through the library anything just added will display the smaller image size, i have not made any changes to coverart settings they are exactly as they were prior to the update.

Not positive what version you came from so not sure what may have changed but probably a bug was fixed.  If you were to refresh the old covers, they probably would get the same size treatment.

Do you have "use original art aspect ratio" checked?

What I have noticed is that images that look shorter will not have height and width reported in metadata editor. For some reason I have had to edit the images and manually upload them to the item so dimensions are picked up by Emby and then they get resized appropiately.

updated from 3.0.5675.1 ebr and no i don't have "use original art aspect ratio" checked up unti the latest update all images looked the same as the ones on the far right after the update everything added has the shorter image applied, also as i said if i revert back to 3.0.5675.1 the images return to the size i am used to seeing.

Okay, if changing the server version without also backing up to the previous version of CoverArt changes the images then it must be a web client display issue and not in the images themselves.

What do they look like in other apps?

Look at this sample. When the image is uploaded from the web using the metadata editor, it shows no dimension...

Then the web client gets messed up with the title (resizing the browser does not help)...

Now I just open the file in PaintShop Pro and save it again, then upload it manually...

Now dimensions show up in metadata editor... (notice without saving the file I get the same results by saving the image locally and uploading. Saving it with PSP -or any other image editor- is necessary).

And now the web client shows properly.

Seems to me the web client is looking for something within the image itself that in recent versions is not getting from them and that previously might have been handled differently, this in turn may be affecting rendering in the web client.

Everything seems fine elsewhere mate, i use Kodi on my HTPC and haven't noticed any difference in the images there and just now checked Emby for android on my Galaxy S5 and all seems to be ok there, so as you suggested the problem appears to reside in the web client.

I have noticed different sizes on some of my covers for a long time in the web client. Every other client displays them fine so I have never worried about the web client display as I rarely use it but thought I would note this after seeing this post.

Not sure if this is a server issue or web client but in the web client the new movies I just added have a smaller cover than before but it looks normal in the media center add-on and the Windows App. Was something recently changed?

Something with the treatment choice and image aspect ratio.  This is easy to reproduce by changing to case shown in this topic.

What I found is that if the web client would not show image dimension in the metadata editor, then the issue appears and the image in the web client will be smaller. Not sure why this happens.

I noticed this over the weekend with a handful of movies I added to my collection.  In all cases, the resolution of the source image obtained from tMDb was 680x1000.  But for some reason when the treatment was applied by CoverArt the image would occassionally be distorted as shown in your image.  When this happened, the image dimension was not shown in the metadata editor.  I could not figure out why only some images were impacted in this way.

As part of my troubleshooting process, I added the directories for movies with distorted images to the "ignore" list in the Coverart Plugin.  After rescanning the collection, the primary images then showed up in the web interface without any treatment.  When I checked the dimensions for those images in the metadata editor, they were all correctly identified as being 680x1000 in size.  I then removed the directories from the CoverArt "ignore" list and rescanned my collection.  After doing this, the previously problematic images were all scaled properly after the treatment was applied.  I stopped troubleshooting at this point.

Thanks for the tip... unfortunately, this did not work for me... when I added the manually created collection folder to the ignore list I got the plain image shown but distorted, image is 1000x1500 and still shows distorted.

So is this something that can be fixed or do we have to work on our own workaround? I'm not very technical so don't play around much with the configurations etc. This was working fine and only shows as an issue in the web client from all the clients I use and would like to continue to use the web client if possible.

nothing? hello - lol I love all these updates that add new features and break whats already there :-(

Oh and I did post this in the Client forum but it got moved here - so is this an issue confirmed with coverart broken again?

What I did notice today was some of them seem to have gone back to normal so now only a few of the recently added ones are small but the 3 new ones I just added today are small again - need to see if I can lock down changes - fed up

I can confirm the same - the image dimension is not being displayed on the new movies which then show smaller in the web client - can someone PLEASE fix this?

UPDATE: for now I am opening the file in a photo editor, saving, then manually uploading the primary image and it captures the dimensions and displays correctly in the web client!

Yeah i'd like to know as well if this is being looked at, unlike you i am too lazy to constantly open and save new images in photoshop lol so i've reverted back to an older version until a fix becomes available.

Just decided to check what other had been saying now that i had another movie to add, so updated back to latest version, added the film and indeed the artwork showed with no dimensions at all and displayed a smaller cover in the WebUI, so i opened it in photoshop saved it as a .png and uploaded it, dimensions showed and correct size cover displayed in the WebUI.

Maybe someone can post a server debug log or check their logs when something new is add and the image fails to show dimensions.  Since this is point to a server issue not a plugin issue.

Moving to the server forum for now just to be sure Luke sees it as I do believe the real issue here is the fact the images are missing the size information.

I'm on Version 3.0.5724.3 and have been seeing this for almost a month. About 1/2 the time after adding a movie, the default image has no dimensions and those show up short. Usually if I select another one it will show the dimensions and that is fixed. The new selection does not 100% work but I would say 80% of time it does. I'll just keep picking until I get one. In the rare case where I never get one to work, I do a google search for a poster, upload and use that. The manual upload of an image works 100% of the time.

I've just resorted to this as my workaround for now.

I'm on the same version and noticed it when I added some movies in the last couple of weeks

Same here doing it with tv art also.
