video TS format - pixelated / grainy (mkv OK)

Hi,

i have a recent issue that developed when streaming from a video_ts folder.

 

I tried streaming a movie from the server (unraid, running emby docker 3.0.5724.3) to both a roku and ipad (web client).

 

the movie was very pixelated and grainy...unwatchable.

 

I went to a PC and tried watching via VLC and it looked OK.

 

at that point I grabbed the TS folder and converted to mkv using makemkv and put back on the unraid server.  Tested on the ipad webclient and it looks OK.

 

I tried a few other movies on the ipad - if the source on the unraid server is Video TS itis grainy/pixelated.   If I convert to MKV it looks good.

 

 

any ideas?
