JAJ 11 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 server Version 3.0.5724.3 With the latest server version my Kids and Family and Disney movie folders that consist of movie folders as windows shortcuts with UNC target paths are no longer "being seen" by the server. I did edit the system.xml file to "<EnableWindowsShortcuts>true</EnableWindowsShortcuts>" I then restarted the server (several times) and I still cannot see the movies in those folders. Now this problem was also occurring with the last two server betas, so I reverted to the previous stable server release and everything was back to "normal" and worked again. Now with the newest server release the issue is back again. Hope that you can help. Thank You. here is a sample pic of one of the movie folders with the shortcuts... server-63576829392.txt 1
Luke 42077 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Yea i see the problem. It would have been great if you had said something during the beta because there's so very few people using this. We're not going to issue a revision to the stable release for this, so you'll just have to get the fix on the dev branch over the next couple days when developer builds resume.

Luke: Glad you know what the issues is JAJ: Symbolic links will work but in my opinion it is more trouble than it is worth. In my case, I use the shortcut for an "Oscar - Best Picture" collection. The problem is that most of the Oscar winners were movies but for one winner in the "Kids" collection.

I still can't use shortcuts even if I edit "<EnableWindowsShortcuts>false</EnableWindowsShortcuts>" in the system.xml file, and change false to true... Am I missing something? This is all I am doing... E:\Box Sets Group Collections\Vampires .... then dragging a short cut for whaterver here (ex) but it would be a shortcut....

I forgot about this one, sorry. You will need to use the server dev build in order to get the fix immediately. It will be in the next release.

I can't get Shortcuts to work anymore and I couldn't find this line in the system.xml file.

JohnnyM 40 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I used them for custom boxsets but since they do not work I have created Collections using the Web Client and it works for what I want to do and you do not have to have them in the folder structure that was required before. The item (Movies) can be split across drive. Start by taking one of your custom box sets. Take the movies out of the boxset structure. Scan the library so that emby knows where the movies were relocated to. Start the web client, find one of the movies in the boxset. Right click on it and select Add to Collection, New is Selected and Type in a name and OK it. Find the next movie, right click and select the new collection and OK it etc. New Collection is created. Luke 42077 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 To improve the performance of the server the database has been getting revamped and this feature kind of got lost in the shuffle. It was inevitably going to happen once it got relegated to a hidden config switch. Luckily we have seen some demand for what this is trying to do, which is opt-in library access rather than opt-out, so I would like to bring this feature back but in a way where it can be managed in the web interface so that everyone can enjoy it.
