Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Wondering how people are starting MBT with a remote and also getting past the login screen. So far I have to use the keyboard to launch and pick the user, then the remote works good from their. 1
Luke 42077 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 you can use a remote on the login screen, except for the password entry part.
swhitmore 781 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I use a numeric password that I can type in with the remote. Any word on auto login @@Luke ? 1
Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 you can use a remote on the login screen, except for the password entry part. I will have to try again, when I tired last night the normal OK button didn't seem to do anything. How are people launching the actual MBT program from the desktop?
Redshirt 1487 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 If you have a programmable remote you can place the MBT shortcut in your taskbar and then program "windows key + number" where number is the position of the icon counted left from right. 2
swhitmore 781 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I launch MBT from WMC. I use a harmony remote with the WMC profile. Logging in works ok for me.
Ghostm 74 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) This is kind of why I wish the ios/android apps and even the web browser remote section would allow control of clients like mbt including navigation and use the devices keyboard (iphone,android,ect..) to enter keystrokes in mbt like you can with xbmc ios/android/web app. Would make it easy to use out of the box for any new user without needing a 3rd party mce remote. Will the green windows button on mce remotes launch mbt? It would be nice if we could enable that somehow. I dont know if this script in autohot key can be edited for mbt instead of xbmc so the green button launches mbt. Bit outside my understanding. ;Win-Alt-Enter is the shortcut for greenbutton on the MCE Remote for Win64bit #!Enter:: IfWinNotExist XBMC.exe ;If XBMC is shutdown Run C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe ;Start it WinWait,XBMC,,8 ;wait for 8 seconds for XBMC to launch "increase the time if the script times out on your system" If ErrorLevel ;Display an error if XBMC does not load in time. { MsgBox, XBMC Startup timed out. return } WinActivate ;Activate and Refocus XBMC. swhitmore 781 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Will the green windows button on mce remotes launch mbt? It would be nice if we could enable that somehow. This would greatly affect the people using MBT with WMC.
Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 OK I got it to launch by assigning a short cut key to the desk top icon and sending that command. Now is their any way to exit out of MBT or is that still in the works? Also you can't get to the configuration setting with the remote, I assume that is in the works also?
Xzener 729 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Isn't there another keyboard shortcut for "close"?? Atl+F4 I believe. 1
Ghostm 74 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 This would greatly affect the people using MBT with WMC. Then they wouldn't need to install the patch (auto hot key).... Either way noticed luke has mapping the green button on the MBT road map anyway.
Ghostm 74 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) I got the script working in post 8 although I dont really know what im doing, i just replaced instances of xbmc with media browser theater, now the green button launches mbt. I can post it if anyone is interested, but im guessing anyone with even a bit of auto hot key script knowledge would know what they are doing and could post a better one. Currently it just launches, i cant get it to refocus or maximize like you could with xbmc, i am guessing i screwed something up. All I did after installing auto hotkey was put the script file in startup and it always works whenever the pc starts. Really hope for easy functionality and casual users though the mbt team can think out a simple universal solution. The green button is pretty important (im using mce controller which allows roomie remote and various other apps to send mce commands over the network). Maybe if users need their green button to launch mbt during setup process you could also include and install auto hotkey and a script like with lav filters? Xbmc has a simple executable package to do this that would be a great option during mbt setup. Or maybe even a better idea the team might have? I dont know just an idea to make this htpc solution even easier. Its a headache to get this working. Edited February 12, 2014 by Ghostm
A8HTPC 38 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 There are apps you can get for your android which you can control your mouse and keyboard on your pc (not a full remote access software, strictly mouse and keyboard). I used it before I'll try to find it again
