So does emby for kodi on your HTPC pickup up/work with your emby server install on your laptop??

I haven't tried. But when i first installed it and opened kodi it did see the HTPC but i wasnt able to connect. Then i forget the next steps but i ckosed kodi, reopened and then it recognized the server i juat installed on my laptop. I went right to bed afyer. Day 3 (after a long days work) trying to figure this out when I get home. I'll try again tonight.

Question is, when I install Emby on my 2 other intended devices (FireTV with Kodi side loaded) how do o connect them to where my server is running on my HTPC?

Both I guess.  Why was my Laptop witha fresh install able to connect but my HTPC that I have been struggling with for days won't?  Also, why is it Kodi never auto-detected my server like it's supposed too and like it did on my laptop?

I feel if I can figure out the route cause of all those issues I will get Emby working like it should with this whole password thing.

Anyone knowledgeable want to do a GoToMeeting to see if they can help me?  I am desperate to get this working.

Sorry, realized a comma would help there.

My laptop is on my network with WiFi, my HTPC is connect to the same router via LAN.

I also have a 2nd router supplied by Uverse that I thought may be causing an issue so I put in in full DMZ mode but I thought it already ws, I must have reset and forgot to put it back to DMZ.

I am all for giving more details...I just need someone brighter than me to ask those questions.  :D

I've already asked you to describe your setup. What is your server running on, what devices is kodi running on, what network security measures do you have in place, post screenshots of your emby dashboard and emby for kodi settings

Does your HTPC connect to the emby server install on your laptop?

What address do you use to access the emby server web interface?

Again you mean ethernet when you say LAN right?

yes.

I think I fixed it though.

I am remoted into my HTPC from work on my lunch break since I am obsessed with this.  In my advanced settings my usename was HTPC which it picked up from my PC's name when I installed Ebmy for like the 3rd time.  I changed it to the name Kodi was recognizing (which is the same as my forum user name) and it connected.

So now the next step when I get home is see if I can finish configuring it and connect my other 2 Kodi devices to it.

So for now, thanks, but I may not be out of the woods just yet.

I have no idea what you're talking about , you should be a little more descriptive when trying to explain your self because you obviously don't really know what you are doing.... But you're welcome

Ouch!  I gave several screen shots in my original post and answered every question that I was asked of me.  Not knowing what I am doing?  I successfully added Emby to another PC in my network with no issue so logic says I do know something.  There was obviously an issue when adding it to my HTPC an issue that made little sense which is why I came here, to a community forum for help.

Hmmmm well you haven't answered any of my recent questions except that yes you mean ethernet when you wrote LAN , and can you link me to your screenshots because I'm not seeing them either. Sorry if I sounded harsh, it's just that not one of your posts clarifies anything for me it's just more vagueness and incorrect terminology

So by your "logic" a clock with arms that don't move isn't broken because it still manages to show the right time twice a day;)
