Login issues through Kodi. Was told to ask here.

EDIT: NEW INFO ADDED IN THREADS! I have it working on another computer in my network.

@@Angelblue05 told me I should seek help here.  I posted THIS thread trying to find out why I cannot log in through Kodi.  I have set a password for my server (not forums) and I have even tried the pin and tried another password.  It says invalid password everytime.  As a matter of fact, I get stuck in a loop I can't get out of.  fails, makes me try again, fails, makes me try again....I have to kill Kodi in the task manager. I can slowly make my way back to the configuration and reset my attempts but it doesn't always work.

What am I doing wrong, am I doing anything wrong?

My logs are in the other post but I will add them here too.

HELP!

You didn't mention if you also have login issues with web client

Sorry.  I can login to the web client but couldn't right away, then tried Firefox, not Chrome and it worked. But now I can with either.  No idea what that was all about.  I also cannot access the Remote Access page using the link as in the pic attached.  Should I be able to? 55dce720a3e2d_55dbe3703a248_Capture.jpg

If you are within(connected to) your home LAN you should be using the local access address

So in theory I should be able to access it outside my network using the Remote Access address, right?  But I cannot do that either.

Did you port forward  port 8096?  Does http://canyouseeme.org/ show the port open?

Nope, port has no access.  I will have to forward it, or at least try I was never any good at advanced router config

You could try enabling automatic port mapping in Emby if UPnP is enabled on your router

Can you explain your set up/aim a bit more... Is it a remote device you are having issues with? This started as a question about logging in to emby for kodi

The issue here is he keeps having the server return security exception 401 when he enters his password. From the logs, I thought maybe his account was locked out from too many attempts but it had zero invalid attempts.

Now for the server to return this response, I thought it meant invalid username or password. Am I wrong to assume this?

I even thought he confused emby connect with directly connecting to his server. He says he has trouble logging into chrome, but firefox is fine? I'm not sure what's going on so I asked him to post here, so he can get more help as I'm not a server expert. :)

Are you doing this from inside your home network? If so then you can probably ignore all of the port forwarding stuff for now. I would download the new server beta, then use the forgot password function in the web interface. It's right on the login screen so you can't miss it.

Sorry, I cannot find where to set this.

I am running Emby Add-On in Kodi.  I want to use it to host my media to share on 3 Kodi devices within my home.

Logging in with Chrome no longer seems to be an issue.

I there a reason you suggest the beta?

There was a bug fix related to the password reset page.

right so for this there is no need to worry about external access yet

Ok, I will try this.  I am having an impossible time forwarding my port.  I honestly have always had issues with this.  Maybe it's my router.  Any idea how to enable the auto port mapping in Emby as @@FrostByte suggested?

There is an option in Advanced-Hosting to enable it.  But it is still dependent of port mapping being enabled on your router.

And enable upnp in your router if it has that option

Turns out it is already set.  I do have UpnP enabled in my router but how do I make sure it is enabled in Windows?

The upnp is a setting in the emby dashboard > advanced > hosting > enable automatic port mapping. Also make sure the port is open in your Windows firewall.

It is enabled.  I wish I knew if I needed to forward my ports in my router. My firewall has the ports open, disabling my AV does nothing. I cannot seem to find anyway to make it work. Some tutorials say make it a virtual server, some say use port forwarding.  Which ports, 8096, 8920, UDP, TCP, One fish  2 fish, red fish blue fish?  F@ck it, I'm done.  I guess I go back to seeing if MySQL will work. I had such high hopes.

So I decided to try and load Emby then Kodi on my laptop (in same network).  Low and behold it works fine.  One thing I noticed on my other computer (aka, HTPC) is I never got the message that it auto detected the Emby server, I also never have to even put a password in.

On a plus not, I love how it is working...on this laptop that is.  So why is my HTPC having issue.  I did not different in the install.   How do I start fresh with a new install?  I tried uninstalling but as soon as I reinstall Emby it sees as if it still has all my old info.
