Anyone else having music playback issues?

Hi

I can't seem to get music playback working on my brothers laptop. I just updated it to Windows 10 for him and updated Kodi from v14,2 to v15 and updated everything else on the system. The Emby Kodi add-on is v1.1.31

There are two user accounts on the PC and I've configured Kodi for both users. I just reset the DB on one again and also reset the Emby add-on settings and its syncing OK and the music library is there, but when I try to play anything it says something like cannot find next item to play and nothing plays.

In the Emby add-on settings I am using my external domain name, I've tried with HTTP and HTTPS enabled. I don't want to enter the network user name and password for SMB as this will be a remote PC etc.

However earlier I did try enabling SMB access and it did start playing OK but when changing the settings back to HTTP rather than SMB it seems to have stopped working again.

I can't work out what the heck is going on and why its not working? Will try and post some logs later.

On my own Windows 7 PC which is set to use the local LAN IP of the Server and SMB that one is still playing music fine and that is the machine I have been testing with during all the recent music sync issues with the beta builds.

Can anyone else confirm music playback over HTTP or HTTPS is working rather than with just an SMB connection in the add-on settings?

Thanks

Playback for music is only local atm... So we insert it into the database, using the actual path to the file. We could not figure out "yet"(hopefully) how to use plugin paths for this. Maybe we can bind the music path to the play from http setting, to import the remote playback path instead of the actual path.

The Windows 10 PC currently on my LAN, can access the HTTPS URL and SSL port number of the Emby Web UI OK, so I don't think its a network issue where I can't access my own external domain name from the internal LAN, which can happen sometimes.

Also installed on this Windows 10 PC is the Emby Windows 8 / 10 modern UI app and I think I configured that correctly to access the HTTP URL of my server, it doesn't support HTTPS yet apparently, however that app can play the music OK with no issues. Will test this again when at the remote location tomorrow.

Confused

Oh, so you are aware then.

It was working previously remotely, before all the recent sync issues. Which is why I was expecting it to work again now etc.

Yes I think something changed. We will have to look into it more. But as of right now, I'm pretty sure we are importing the local path.

OK that's fine, wish I knew this earlier would have saved me a lot of time, oh well!

I will just tell my brother he can't now play music in Kodi for the time being. Will test it in the modern UI app instead remotely see if that works?

Thanks again.

Sorry @@cw-kid :( it will surely be resolved before we make a new stable version.

Have to say Windows 10 is miles better than that piece of crap Windows 8  :D

I may even update my own laptop!

Although anyone thinking of updating to Windows 10 should know about the very dodgy looking privacy settings and how MS are collecting users personal data more and more, there are loads of articles online with people moaning and I don't blame them as its quite worrying.  :o

Seems they want to blur the lines between locally stored data on your hard drive and what's stored on their cloud services.

There are lots of guides on how to turn off all these privacy settings, I recommend checking them out before updating..

As I use OpenElec Linux on the HTPCs and MAC OSX for the main family desktop PC these days, I haven't followed the Windows 8 or 10 development at all, as I got bored with MS and their perpetual cock ups.

In the past I use to beta test previous version of Windows especially for the eHome team for the Media Center and reported lots of bugs, which they resolved, which is why 7MCE was as good as it was, with the Green Button community input and then they killed that.

Glad to see MCE is not in Windows 10 time for folks to move on to better things like Kodi / Emby, my 2 cents worth!
