jasonwilliams 36 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Hello, I've seen a few threads about how Emby Theater detects 3D and my understanding is that Emby cannot differentiate between a 3D MKV file and a 2D MKV. The only option to have it kick out to the external player for only 3D files is to use the .mk3d extension. I have been using this for quite some time and it does work. The problem is that most external players don't support MK3D. Emby obviously knows that the file is 3D based on the Metadata because it isolates 3D movies in the view "3D Movies". Is there a way to use the Metadata to make the determination? Or maybe an alternate solution? Thanks, Jason

jasonwilliams 36 Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Hi Romana, Thanks for the suggestion. I tried adding myfile.3D.HSBS.mkv to the filename, but it still launches in the native player. Unless I'm mistaken, it seems ET can only launch external players for the whole extension and can't differentiate based on the 3D flag. If anybody has other ideas they are appreciated. Jason
romana 1 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 renaming it to mkv wont do the job as it is still another type of file try to convert it if you can to a mp4 or mkv that should do the job
jasonwilliams 36 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Hi Romana, Actually it truly is a 3D MKV file. The original filename was myfile.mkv. Trying your suggestion, I simply added the tags .3D.HSBS, but it doesn't change the behaviour. In the External player setup, I have everything unchecked except the "3D" flag. I've read other threads and I believe this is the current behaviour. Maybe I should open a feature request...
