KTVU sent a helicopter crew into the air, and I took screenshots during its pan and zooms when it was over blue lakes. Looks like CALFIRE is awesome. Nothing is burnt. Just some landscaping..

If you fast-forward to last 3 minutes of that livestream you can see at the end they visit the blue lakes area. Welcome site seeing... it there.. In that video you can see the sheer size is why 16 states are sending resources to help squash it.

So all is well as it can be?

Guys can anyone please explain to me in layman's terms why it is that when I watch a movie that has an AC3 soundtrack in 'Blue Neon Night' it plays absolutely fine and yet when I try the 'Official' Emby for Roku app the sound is just totally distorted and constantly crackling.

It's always been like this for me and I can't understand why the official app should have such a problem where as the unofficial app runs perfectly?

Roku is connected direct to my TV via HDMI, no external amp or speakers etc.

Thanks in advance, just want to 'understand' why this is the case!

As posted in other topic how is the media being played Direct or being converted?  BNN has more audio options in setting then the Official app.

According to the Cal Fire updates at 3:20 your time

River Fire 50% Contained

Ranch Fire 33% Contained

Are you and your family escaping losses?

No way to tell. They aren't letting us into that area. My parents are mandatory evacuated. There is no way into that area without risking immediate arrest for being in a disaster/evacuation area. So all I can do is glean information from others, or drive around to mountain tops and try to assess things visually. Last night it made the northward push which pushed the river fire close to Ukiah. I am right at the southern end of Ukiah. At night the glowing is unnerving. I wish this were over. So tired of fires. When will it rain again?

That was last night on the freeway south of Ukiah.

I took some photos myself, but my camera is piss poor in the dark. These were taken last night from the road right next to my place.

The video above shows the entire fire as it was july 30th. This shows the scale of the two fires combined.

The link above is the fire map of the perimiter of the two fires laid onto a satellite map, and also modis hot spots. This map gets updated every day.

If you are interested here are some of the links I've been using to keep up on when things return to normal. #MendoLakeStrong!

It's like a one-two punch to the gut. First barely survived the ranch fire, now the river fire is approaching on the other side about to crest over the hilltop into blue lakes and about to merge into the ranch fire. Together the ranch and river fires form the Mendocino Complex Fire and are the biggest fires in California burning right now. Surpasses the carr fire by 20,000+ acres. Pray for us please...

Ack, be safe!  Those pictures bring back some of my own wildfire memories, most of which aren't "fond" at all.  Wildfires of any significant size are simultaneously frightening and awe-inspiring (more the former when your job is fighting the fires, believe me).  Let's hope they can establish some effective breaks and at least contain it soon...and that the wind cooperates.

My place is fine. Always ways, the fire got as close as 2 miles to me. Pretty far away. It did get close to my parents house in blue lakes. It burned the trailer park across the street from their subdivision. The highway, and the lake itself provided barriers. That was the ranch fire. Then the river fire burned over towards it, and came within 1.5 miles of burning it up from behind. So there were 2 close calls. The CALFIRE organization are heroes. In the absence of war, heroes are defined by their actions. Alot of people from all over the world came to California. 3 weeks ago, the population of ukiah rose from 18,000 to well over 60,000. They had a giant tent camp at the edge of town near the freeway onramp. It was an awesome sight how quickly they organized and mobilized. So yeah, we are fine now. Insurance is covering losses from lack of power. The refrigerator and giant freezer were filled. All this was about $2500. FEMA rejected it, insurance covers it mostly. I must say alot of people in that community are shitty people. They claimed smoke damage when there was none, and this unscrupulus fire/smoke investigators confirm the damage. Such a scam. The fire and smoke damage to their homes is caused by their indoor woodstove heat. But they can claim otherwise and just roll with the dollars. It is the same as people who get in car accidents and claim whiplash. Total pieces of $hit. So yeah, we are fine. The neighbors are garbage. The world is still there that we call home. :0)

I havent done much more work on BN TWO as of yet. But will get back to whipping something up before the end-of-year death of BN ONE. stay tuned in that regard.

Blue Neon is riding off into the sunset.

Holding it's head high and proud.

speechles has joined Ebr for the ever evolving and improving Emby "beta". (I think)

They are doing excellent work with it and it is getting even better than it was before.

Please ask her to list what she finds wrong in the Emby app. I can help with her transition and make important things work for her. Depending on how complicated in time each of these eat up might make it easier and better for you in the long run. Blue Neon is lacking in several areas. It cannot show backdrops. It's music player and inability to hand craft queues is a downer. The way some screens load into rows rather than grids slows down navigation.

I am here to provide you the same experience you have with blue neon with the caveat that we must keep it even. Things have to match how the general "emby" look is define. How that gets defined is really none of my business. But I can help give you features you want and help you keep the wife acceptance factor. Where everyone is free to use sunscreen. Where everyone is happy. This is where I want the app to be. It isn't there yet but the focus is on getting there. It will get there. Failure is not an option.

This is better for everyone all around too. This gives the emby developers a break, and lets them focus their time where they want. I solely focus my time on the Roku which helps users, emby team, and me since I like this kind of stuff as a hobby. Altogether this means the speed at which features evolve, bugs get fixes, and the speed of development will increase as time goes on. We will get there much faster together than as separate apps. The future is about your media, your way. That is always the number one priority.

Thanks for listening. :)

You are the gold that makes alaska shine sir. Always a pleasure dealing with you. Blue Neon is not sad, she is happy. She will always exist in my memory. ;)

Does the "beta" app allow limiting the transcode resolution? This really is the only feature that I require. I have 6 simultaneous users for live TV and my system can't handle transcoding 6 1080p 60 fps streams, I need to force them to 720p. Let me know, otherwise I'm going to have to go buy some FireTVs.

Yes it does. In fact, press down on your Roku remote when video plays. The OSD of the video player appears. At the bottom is the graphic equalizer thing with 3 sliders. Click that it will open the Playback Menu. As part of that menu is the Resolution/Quality choices. These allow much more control than blue neon did. The Resolution choice will be used if transcoding is caused by the Quality bitrate you choose. Let us know what you think. Thanks. :)

SIDE NOTE: California has had enough fires. Please God make it all stop. Thanks.

Ignore my blurb below.

I missed the TRANSCODE part.

-----------------------------

Yes,

You can set the video quality of the streams.

I believe you can do that also by USER in the web interface.

If it were me, I'd install the Beta and see if it suits your needs before dropping money on Fires.

But, it is the season and they may be real cheap.

Excellent. The Emby Beta app looks great! Super fast and looking great! Is there anyway to set the maximum transcode resolution GLOBALLY or for a particular user? Having my users have to manually set the transcode resolution to 720p everytime they chose a channel is bit a of hassle. Even if I set the video quality to 10 Mbps, it still transcodes to 1080p. The new app looks sweet guys!

Also, nice to note, my Roku Premiere+ is direct streamed mpeg2 and it plays perfectly. De-interlaced nicely and everything.

It is great when things just work. Glad you like it so far.

As to your question of Max Transcode Resolution option.. very good question. We should have something like this as the Video Player OSD settings are temporary. Having a Max Transcode Resolution option would let you help your users watch trouble free liveTV. I completely understand. I have to run all these decisions up the ladder. I have expedited your request and gave my opinion. We should be able to do this shortly.

I'm using a Roku Ultra to a 1080p SDR TV and I have a video that works fine in the standard Emby Channel but errors out (at the same point every time) when trying to watch the same video via the Neon Channel.

I've attached two ffmpeg logs. One from an attempt via the Blue Neon channel and one from completing a watch via the standard Emby Channel.

Server is a FreeNAS running 3.5.3 (latest stable for that OS)

Failure Blue Neon.txt

Working Emby Stable.txt
