So my constant but subtle hints worked!

Cool

Thanks

I have no idea why that lack of info bugs me.

It bugs me even in the other Roku apps I have installed.

Silly quirk I guess.

New Version: v4.09

* add clear registry button

* add quick launch row

* add preference for quick launch

* fix theme music change

* add preference stop theme music

* add enhanced hud/osd

The clear registry button is shown on the user login screen. If ever you experience an issue (can't login, app is misbehave, etc) use this to clear the entire app registry for blue neon. This will make the app believe it is freshly installed. Instead of starting at the Welcome (pin screen) this will start you at the server select screen.

The quick launch row is ridiculous. It mimics what you can already do on the homescreen. This though allows faster access to apps that stream video. If you have the apps worthy enough to occupy this row they will appear. If you lack an app, you can't launch it nor will have a button. This is turned on by the "quick launch row" preference.

The theme music now changes on an items detail screen. When you navigate left/right and move to a new item it will change. If the item is an episode, and it is part of the same series already playing theme music, the music won't change. Since the item is the same theme music as before it just lets it play. This is controlled by a preference "stop theme music" and is default to NO. This will make your background music stop when browsing. If you want to listen to your music tracks play in the background as you browse, turn "stop theme music" to yes.

The HUD/OSD will now give complete play details: Time, EndTime, and Watched. This is "borrowed" from ljunkie/rarflix. Big Thanks there to rarflix being open source.

Updated all links in first post (even zips!), enjoy. If any issues please mention them.

May seem a silly question, and not even sure if it's related to BN.

Is it possible to disable the check for "Are you still watching?". As I said I'm not sure if its BN that does it as I never noticed it on the default Roku app.

In fact I didn't even notice it for months because the reason I need to disable it is my daughter has a playlist of cartoons that plays all night or she wont sleep, after a few months of not being able to figure out why her Roku stopped I finally caught the check message on the screen.

I JUST read somewhere where that was a function in SOME emby app or even server side app.

Weird.

But I myself haven't run into yet as of yet.

Not a silly question at all.

I am curious about the clarification too.

Yes, its a blue neon thing..lol.. its the sleep timer.

To disable it you need to log into the app as an admin. Then in preferences, change interaction timeout to disabled

You have to login as admin otherwise normal users cant change this option to disabled. This option is remembered for all users so once set as disabled you can logout as admin. Log back in as your daughter and good to go. Will never pester you again to keep it alive.

The way the interaction timeout(sleep timer) works is the time since last keypress on the remote. Default in app is 5 hours.

Has any one had issues where Roku blue neon night client crashes when playing live tv? I am running latest stable version of Emby Windows Server with Emby Blue Neon Night v4.09 on Roku 3 & 4. I am using HD HomeRun Prime with Comcast. The Client closes and then I am back to the Roku menu.

DOH!!!

I see what it is, the server returns "" for length instead of null. This is messing with my HUD/OSD display that shows time, endtime, watched. This causes a type-mismatch when length is a string.

Ive now fixed the issue, running some tests to make sure. I will have a new version up very shortly. Apologies for the mistake. My bad.. lol

New Version: v4.10

* fix length = string bug

* fix theme song changer

Fixed that bug crashing livetv. This was affecting anything without a length. Also fixed the theme song changer to more accurately switch only if required.

Updated all links in first post (even zips). Have fun ;)

@@sstahl Thanks for the excellent bug spotting. Squashed.

First off, continuing to love this for my Emby needs, and love all the additions (love, love, LOVE the update that included the time watched/left without needing to pause).

Just have 2 things:

1. For some reason, if I go to my Movies library, then select a Genre, rather than list the movies with that genre like it used to, the app closes out to the Roku main screen.  The official channel does not have this error, and I'm not sure when it appeared, as I don't usually decide what to watch that way, but it seems isolated to this app :(

2. I'm not sure if this is something with Roku, Emby apps, of the server itself, but I'm finding there are now files which used to play fine that no longer play.  These generally seem to be .wmv and .flv files, with a few others here and there, but I'm unsure why they no longer play.  Again, not sure what exactly changed or on what level, but maybe figured you might have some insight.  It's not a game breaker, as I do have the software and whatnot to convert the affected files, it's just annoying and didn't know if I was missing a simple setting change or something.

Keep up the great work, man :)

I just checked the genre issue reported above,

The app closes when you select a genre and crashes.

And, all the genres are empty.

I never use that so never noticed.

Oh yeah, the time thing was a great idea, speechles   :D  -_-

I didn't click on any genre but I noticed the other day that all the genre were showing "0" in the footer also.

The genre/studio issue is solved. It now works, but I am now trying to find out from luke how to tell total items without fetching all the items.

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/45019-moviecountseriescountrecursiveitemcount/

I need a way to know the totals, without fetching all the items. All that is required to know is the genre name and total counts. The call made after uses the genre name to pull the items. So having to prepopulate with all the items first, is wasteful since those items are not used at this level.

Now the beta app needs to do something with its OSD/HUD. Thats the one place the beta drops the ball. All you get is a title... Weak Sauce!!

Have you tried the "up" arrow during playback?

The episode title, season #, episode #, and an audio codec box. Missing is the series title and video codec box.

Press OK it is just the episode title.

I meant the time, end time (remaining), and watched time. Having that on the osd/hud is very useful. Didnt know it was that useful, now I find myself using that all the time.

Also, the old app has conditioned people to use the OK button for hud/osd. Pressing the up arrow will exit the playing video. You can see why someone would not try using the up-arrow while video is playing and expect an osd to show in the new app.

I would think the time, end time (remaining), and watched time in the OSD/HUD would have low priority in the "beta" stages.

It is a very useful perk though.

I uninstalled the beta because I couldn't find anything that didn't work.

When it gets released into the wild as the official app I'll give it a whirl again.

The up arrow exits the video in the old app...?  That seems strange.

I would much prefer using "ok" but, until we can replace the entire in-playback experience, that isn't an option.

Other information and even activities will become available on that OSD in time.  What is there now is just the very first iteration but gives you an idea of where we are headed.

Yep, up-arrow is equivalent to pressing back. Strange it isn't since its been that way forever. Using the up-arrow for OSD is strange. LOL.. at least to people using the prior emby for roku app.

The OK button is tied to roku's dedicated OSD with just a title, yeah. To change that I noticed you have to remake the entire video node to customize the OSD. This is why the video player still has purple accents all over. I realize its still using the stock video node.

Time, End Time (Remaining), Watched Time

Also, you can have the mini videoplayer work for all videos. Maybe work out a homescreen option where people can have a small player in the bottom right corner, and still browse emby entirely. Where you can minimize the player to the corner, then browse to select something better to watch, and up it goes fullscreen as you play it. Then rinse + repeat if what you are watching isn't watchable. This would show off the mini player feature the roku allows and not just restrict it to live-tv. Food for thought.

Didn't the Up arrow change to OK in firmware 7.  I know OSD didn't originally start as the OK button.

Man, memories, right? <3 roku

Pressing up-arrow always exited the videoplayer, still does today.

It was the down arrow, it would show the OSD without pausing the video. Press OK would show the OSD and pauses the video. Pressing the play/pause would just play/pause the video, no OSD.

As of firmware 5.3 all that changed, and remains how it is today. Pressing OK shows the OSD, no pause. Press play/pause either plays or pauses. Pressing down arrow now does nothing.

I can make down arrow work too.  Had actually planned to do that.
