I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but I'm trying to use Let's Encrypt with Emby.

It didn't work.

I'm using LE for a few sites of mine, and no issues.

Lets Encrypt is accepted on majority browsers and widely use.

Your suggested solution is to buy a cert for Emby is too much hassle for many users.

Why not use LE or whatever cert is come with Emby app as universal for mobile devices.

There has to be an alternative solution.

I'm using Plex on my iPhone with its own self-cert, and no issue at all.

If you look at my other thread regarding the SSL issue, I've tried many ways, and possibilities to make it work, but no luck.

 

My current situation is that I'm using Emby app at home, and use my URL for remote connect with SSL.

I purchased the Emby app is to support the work you guys put in and its features.

However, you should post a warning note on the app store to warn users that Emby app is not currently support self-certs yet or HTTPS.

There is no where in the description in the app store give users a head up about this issue.

I'm not happy, because I didn't know this until I purchased the app features.

New Version: v3.72

* add homevideo and musicvideo rows with toggles

* add intelligence to new toggles

* add new images to support new toggles

 

Added latest, jump-in, resume, and favorites to home video and music video types. This will now give a fancy presentation like the other rows. Keep it mind, this does not enhance the library view. These will still be a standard folder view with the top row showing all items, and bottom row with favorites from those items.

 

This also required 6 new images. 2 for the neon theme, as I could reuse two toggle images. 4 for the standard theme because of how those images arent centered and static inlines. It was easy to reuse blue neon toggle images because of their "always centered" highlight. The standard theme isn't so fortunate, because the area of highlight always differs, it made reuse impossible.

 

There may be some issues as I haven't tested everything just the main things. There could be some small detail I overlooked. Just be aware. These changes only affect the homescreen.

 

I also, just because, bumped up the liveTV limit to 100 channels rather than 80. This is to keep in line with the rest of the app which allows 100.

Um, yes.. that is by design, because at that point, you are in what is known as the "folder screen". The folder screen only has an items row, and an item favorites row. But.. ya know, having a jump-in at that level too, would be nice.

 

After I dig into @@econ's liveTV tile issue, I can make a jump-in row for the folder screen, sure. There is a jump-in available on the homescreen toggle for these libraries. Have you tried that?

Quick question that I didn't see asked or answered:

I know if you select to play the whole series or shuffle the whole series, and are missing episodes it is smart enough to skip them ... but, when shuffling the entire series, is it literally just going to take videos from the season folders, or is it going to be shuffling in say TV specials and extras (if you have a specials folder).  Like, if I have DVD commentary and behind the scenes videos in an Extra folder for say Bones, and choose to Shuffle Entire Series, is it just going to play the episodes in seasons 1-12, or is it going to toss in the specials as well?

 

I'm sure I could just as easily shuffle a series and see, but why not just ask the programmer directly for a quicker response, right?  Lol.

Good question.. This is the relevant part of the code which fetches all episodes. I think it is dependent on how you set specials in your user settings? Maybe? I'm not entirely sure...Very, very, good question.

 

My understanding was, this fetches all, including specials, extras, and everything....but.. I could be wrong.

 

Let me explain how shuffling works. If shuffle is chosen, everything is shuffled first. This builds a context list to feed the video player. The video player configuration iterates this context list. Any item that is missing/upcoming using virtual episodes or without a locationType is discarded. If the item isnt discarded, it is then copied from the context list, and added to the video playlist. The video playlist has an infinite queue so there is no upperlimit.

 

After this item is added to the video playlist the app will check for additional parts. If additonal parts are found the app will add these to the video playlist after the item. In this way, even if you have spanned video items on disc1/2 style, this is supported. Shuffling will not goof up additional parts and place them out of order. Additional parts are always played in order.

 

If you want additonal parts shuffled. Use the additonal parts button available on the items detail screen. Then use continuous play on this row, and shuffle them.

 

For your original question, we need to ask the architect behind the call made above...

You wont be inconvenienced for long. The next release has a new screen type for home video/music video library. This includes an items row, jump-in row, and favorites row. Ive left the folder screen alone, since jump-in uses it. How weird would it be, jumping to starts with B and seeing another jump-in row on the B screen. It would just look wrong. This is why it was better to create an entirely new home video screen.

 

Expect a new release shortly....

Alrighty then, let begin... A new screen for home-video/music-video libraries. This was requested and goes along with the earlier toggles added to these library types.

A fix for the folder imagetypes. When entering a folder view screen, this will initially be shown in thumbnail. You can change this with the * menu, but it wont stick. When entering a folder view screen it will reset the imagetype to thumbnail always. This is by design, not a bug, so mentioning it.

A posterscreen will spawn behind the video player screen now. This will make it not look so clumsy as it moves to the next video in a play list. It was jarring to have it "pop back" to the last screen, then go on to next item in the video player play list. This effect isn't perfect, the top emby logo and user/time are still visible. This is a limit of the roku firmware. If I try to lay a roimagecanvas entirely black before the video player, the firmware cannot tell z-order. So when a video ends, the roimagecanvas moves to top and stays there. The video player screen plays under it. This is not acceptable, so I did the best I could here. It should at least be less jarring now.

The field "primaryimageaspectratio" wasn't be used with all queries on all screens. This would make the detail screens of some things look wrong. All of these should now be corrected.

Thanks to @@Lane03 for finding a bug. The videospringboard was incorrectly allowing delete if the value was never chose in the preferences. This was obviously wrong. By default, if nothing is chosen for the option, delete should be disabled. It now is doing that. By default now, delete is 100% disabled.

I just tested the new update, and the home video category looking good just like the movie section.

However, when I'm in the Music Videos library, I'm only seeing the Jump-in option, no thumbnail at all.

Yeah, this was an oversight on my part. I have no musicvideo and forgot to use "video,musicvideo" in includeitemtypes. Instead I just had "video".

 

I have now resolved that. Now I am fighting a mysterious "favorites" eating bug. It only affects favorites used with the toggle. This is the same bug @@econ mentioned with liveTV. It is the same oddball bug. It seems favorites loads, then becomes overwritten by the library image and its toggle.

 

The same bug affects the regular app. You wont notice is as much if you have lots of favorites. This one is hard to track down. Ive spent several (read as dozens or possible more) hours trying to track down its cause. It only affects favorites, and only when there is a toggle in the row.

 

This does not affect stand alone favorites rows, so you can still see all your favorites there. Same with liveTV you can always enter "channels" which populates your favorites at the top and still get to all of them. This is an oddball bug since it only affects favorites. I will try to keep chasing this one down for awhile.

 

I will release a new version tomorrow that fixes music videos to populate correctly. It will also include some soft-crash fixes. The videoplayer had two issues concerning how it handled internet trailers with absolutely no metadata except a url. It was possible to crash the app, while the videoplayer continued to play. After it finished the app would become unresponsive. Corrected that problem so now it handles that situation as expected without issue.

Keep in mind, with ssl, the present roku apps won't be able to show images. This is a limitation of the roku firmware and v1 screens. The function rogeturl, which the screens all make use of to fetch images, isn't capable of ssl/https transfers. This isnt a shortcoming of any developer. When the move to v7 screens (scenegraph,rosgnode) happens these will support ssl with images and everything else.

 

 

 

Also... In just a bit I will have a new release, packing it up as I type this message.

This one fixes music video library types. Now the row these are in, when entering the library row will be shown more than just jump-in.

Other small fixes here and there were mostly cosmetic, or things behind the scenes. I forgot what some of these were because I was fighting the damn "EATING FAVORITES BUG". I spent an entire day trying to squash that with no effect. So I gave up for a bit so I can come back with a fresh brain and try to tackle it. In doing that I found other small typos and things I addressed.

This has to be the servers fault. It works perfectly for me on any library type. The server is having issues in regard to tv library. Maybe this is it?

 

Does it happen if you update your roku to the new build above?

Weird. I updated to the above update and it worked on one episode and all is well. I will finish what I am currently watching and test the other episodes.

You can disable it on the roku system settings. If we disable the emby screen saver in-app, then the original roku one runs instead. There is no way "in an app" to disable the global screen saver function. It has to be done by the user through the roku settings.

 

All roku apps inherit the roku system screen saver settings. Each app can also create its own function to display and control a custom in-app screen saver. If it doesnt do this, the roku system screen saver runs. It you turn off the screen saver in the roku system settings, this disables all screen savers, in-app or otherwise.

 

Roku has the ability to enable the rocecinterface. It exists in the firmware, the interface is enumerable, it just doesnt allow writing byte arrays to it. There is code already in the "are you still wacthing?" function to turn off a TV with rocecinterface when roku finally adds full cec control. I already tried to do exactly what you wanted to do. This is a shortcoming, at the moment, you can blame on rokus partial cec support.

Was the delete function removed?  Until just recently, I was able to delete media from the app, but the last few weeks or so, the delete button has disappeared.

Correction:  The disable function can be enabled under preferences within the app itself.  So it's resolved

The delete was incorrectly enabled by default. To enable just go to preferences while logged in as an administrator. Once enabled the button will appear again.
