hahacharade 0 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) Hi all - Brand new to the forum so I apologize if this has already been asked or is in the wrong place. When using the Emby web viewer - Is there a certain H 264 profile needed on a 1080p MP4 to set it higher than 1080P / 5MBS? I have started to use Handbrake. Anything with a standard profile (not high) of 4.0 won't go past 1080p / 5mbs. If you put it past that, it will error out and no longer open. On the other hand, rips that came from DVDFab can go all the way up to 1080p / 30mbs with no errors. Is a High 264 profile and a setting above 4.0, required for movies to stream at this higher rate? Or is it something more? Using Firefox. Thanks! HC Edited August 7, 2015 by hahacharade
hahacharade 0 Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Just tried ripping with Handbrake -- Profile High. 4.1. I can only get up to 6MB/Sec without the error. Again, the DVDFab Rips can go up to 30MB fine. Anyone have any clue please?

hahacharade 0 Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Please let me know if I'm missing any info -- Thanks!Emby Windows Server Version: 3.0.5675.1 - Certain movies will not play past 1080p/5MBS or 1080p/6MBS in the Emby Web Player (Movies Section). Other ones will go up to 1080P/30MBS, no problem. - The one constant seems to be if someing was ripped using DVDFab, it will work up to 30MBS. If ripped using Handbrake, it does not. I am attempting to identify what difference there is here that would let the DVDFab produced files run in the Emby player at max res/transfer, but the Handbrake ones not. I thought it might be the 264 Profile, however 4.0 and 4.1 files from Handbrake can only get to 1080P/5MBS or 1080P/6MBS. I could try going higher than 4.1? If that makes a difference. - Log files attached from previous movie play failure. - No error on 1080P/5MBS or 1080P/6MBS. If raised 8 or higher get the error -- "Video Error: There was an error playing the video" - Using Firefox 39.0 - I can provide a screenshot, however I think most folks know the setting I am talking about in the upper right, to change resolution and MBS in the player. hahacharade 0 Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) I think I figured some of this out. If a movie is encoded with a max bit rate of, say, 6,000 KB, then the max rate at which you can stream that movie is 6MB/Second -- Makes sense. I guess the weird part is the fact that the movies ripped with DVDFab, despite having the Max Bit Rate of say 6,000 KB, can be streamed up to the max of 30MB/Second, without any kind of error. Now wether or not they are actually streaming at that speed is one thing. In the end, I've grown to think that DVDFab is a waste compared to Handbrake as it tends to break files platforms such as Emby and its competitors (Plex, etc.) but that's just my experience. I'll stick with HB going forward. Edited August 9, 2015 by hahacharade
