Android Playback Settings not being applied

On my Nexus 7 and my Moto G XT1032, if I set my profile setting to have Max Streaming Bitrate at 30mbps, it still always defaults to 4mbps when I go to watch something. Is there a way to set the default bitrate?

that is the correct way, but the current version of the vlc library we're using has some stuttering problems at really high bitrates, so we're capping at 4mpbs. when the upcoming vlc 1.5 release is out this should be resolved and we'll update to the newer library at that time.

Awesome. I really like the new player. Aside from some slow responsiveness in the UI, and some Chromecast/remote control issues, this app is getting really good.
