its getting to be a deal breaker, seems like it scans the whole library all over, does anyone know why ffmpeg has to run?

Ffmpeg, in conjunction with ffprobe, is used to ascertain the details of the item added. This is where the Media Info details come from.

if you enabled chapter images, disable it.

Excellent timing as I'm just rebuilding my server on win 10 & looking for a way to cool things down.  That knocked 25%+ off the CPU load right there. :)

also roku thumbnails, screen grabber. if you've enabled any of those, same thing. screen grabber is enabled by default but is only used if no other images are found.
