JoeBlow42069 0 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) I'd like to add Emby as an external player in the playercorefactory.xml, and be able to play Kodi video add-ons to Chromecast. Does anyone if this is possible? I am doing this with Localcast (Andriod) and it works perfect as an external player, and I was hoping I could do the same with Emby for Windows. Any help is greatly appreciated. Edited July 25, 2015 by JoeBlow42069
xnappo 1611 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I don't really get what you are trying to do? You are try to use Kodi as the interface to launch a Chromecast session?
JoeBlow42069 0 Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Yes, this is exactly what I want to do. Can you help with this? This is what I have for Emby (Windows) playercorefactory.xml: <player name="Emby" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="true" video="true"> <filename>C:\Users\JoeBlow42069\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe</filename> <args>"{0}" /fullscreen /close</args> <hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc> <playcountminimumtime>120</playcountminimumtime> </player> This is Localcast (Andriod): <players> <player name="LocalCast" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true"> <filename>de.stefanpledl.localcast</filename> <hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc> <playcountminimumtime>120</playcountminimumtime> </player> Ty for the quick response, Emby looks like some great software, def look forward to playing with it some more:) Edited July 25, 2015 by JoeBlow42069
xnappo 1611 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 No, it won't work like that. I think it might be possible for us to add support to play to other devices - we can add that to the to-do list (@ @@im85288 - did we have that in the old addon? Can't remember!). There are some Kodi 'cast' addons that might do the trick too.
im85288 1493 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 No I'm pretty sure we didn't support this in the old addon.
JoeBlow42069 0 Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 I'm not sure about the old add on, I just started using Emby. If this feature was added to Emby that would be great! Just to clarify 1 more time. Example using Localcast: - Kodi sends local media and video add-ons (I think it's either the URL or a direct link to the media file) to Localcasts que, using Kodi's external player. - Localcast has the option to use the que, or bypass it and play media directly to Chromecast. - If Chromecast isn't connected in Localcast, a prompt window will ask what device you want to send to. - Media plays on Chromecast, with controls for playback in Localcast I have done a lot of searching, and can't find anything with this feature for Windows, but plenty for Android. I will continue the search a bit longer though. If you know of any programs that specifically do this please lmk. I look forward to following Emby's progress:)
xnappo 1611 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 You can of course do this from the Emby web client - but we don't support streaming to devices from the Kodi addon right now.
bluemonkey07 590 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Yea not sure why you need to add kodi into the equation here?
JoeBlow42069 0 Posted July 27, 2015 Author Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) Yea not sure why you need to add kodi into the equation here? I mostly want to cast Kodi's video add-ons. Emby is limited in this respect, but if my feature request is added, it won't be. Also, my Kodi set up with Aeon Nox Silvo is full of eye candy (using all high res artwork from Ember Media Manager), and there is no better interface imo. Having all my media integrated in Kodi is ideal for a seamless HTPC experience. Edited July 27, 2015 by JoeBlow42069
bluemonkey07 590 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Yea I don't think your request is within the purpose or scope of the emby addon 1
