badaas 139 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) I have a HTPC on wifi, it manages about 8mb/s on a good day. I am noticing caching on 1080p 5.1 direct play. Would it be possible to tell the server to transcode with a setting of 3mb/s, 5mb/s or whatever? Thanks Edit: I see there is 'Remote client bitrate limit (Mbps):' on server, but I'm local. I could put external IP address in emby plugin? Edited July 25, 2015 by badaas
Angelblue05 4132 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) In the add-on settings you can force transcoding to happen even if you are local. Go to the playback tab, enable play from http, then limit the bitrate to highest possible bitrate you can support on your htpc**.However do note this will affect all of your playback, but it will always verify if it can direct stream instead of transcoding if the bitrate required to play your content is lower than the maximum limit you set in the add-on settings.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited July 25, 2015 by Angelblue05 2
