Emby music library missing 2/3 of my music

Only 389 artists are present in my music collection when viewing from the web browser so says Emby. This same number is also present when viewing my music collection from my iOS device (using the MediaConnect app) so at least it is consistent.

 

But, I have 947 artists in my music collection as present on disk - 2,186 albums and 13,154 songs. About 118 songs are in DRM format from my old iTunes collection, so I realize those will not play, but those are not in question here.

 

Of the music that is missing in Emby, there is no pattern to it. It is simply completely not present in the music library within the web browser when looking at the data. The file structure is correct - just like all other file structures that do work ($/music/artist/album/song).

 

At times though, an album or song or artist cannot be manually browsed to in the web browser, but using the emby search in the browser, it locates the item. How do I fix this? I've had emby rescan the library, but no missing items have suddenly showed up. I have music from the 20's that is there and works, some stuff from 60's is not there, some stuff in 90's is not there, some stuff brand new like Wicked: the new musical by Stephen Schwartz is not there. I have restarted the emby service several times and booted the ubuntu box.

 

Lastly, for the music artists/songs that are missing via Emby, they are present and work correctly when played through Rhythmbox or Banshee via Ubuntu.

I am ready to send funds to this project if I can get through this problem. I also have an issue on the Roku 3 side of things in that forum here - no replies though. I also wait patiently for the iOS app. Excited...

how are these songs tagged? if you check the songs tab in the music area, does that show the correct amount of songs? is it possible they are listed but are all dumped into some various or unknown artist?

HI Luke. Today, the total song count matches my expected total (13,154) exactly. Not sure why last night it did not. I have only one unknown artist folder and one various artists folder in my library on disk, but all of those tracks are present and accounted for in emby. In fact, I cannot (yet after 30 min) locate tracks missing in emby. I seem to be getting horrific swap space usage on this ubuntu box for some reason. And I've encountered two PSOD just today. To top it off, some 2 bad sectors presented on my primary hard disk, and suddenly unable to read the other attached drive. Ho hum. Let me resolve this - perhaps setup a new installation this weekend on a diff box - and see where emby stands. I have it up and the moment and again, items emby was missing, are there. Thx for your time so far though.
