It appears to be. I have even restarted it a couple of times is there a way to verify it is running?

Funny thing is the power loss should not have affected the laptop only the hard drive where the library is stored!

Is this hard drive an external drive? I just had a problem with my zbox rebooting after a Windows update and when it rebooted hadn't found the external drive I use for data. But on my problem the coverart and all other images wouldn't display. Disconnected the external drive and reconnected and problem solved! Might not be the answer to your issue but worth looking at....

It sure seems more like a network issue to me though. Might check to see that the ports are mapped properly (http=8096 and https=8920) for the server in your router.

Did you check IP's? I have issues with a few rouge wireless devices taking static IP's after a power failure. My main Media PC doesn't connect after a power failure till I free up that IP.

I just did a re install from scratch and I still get cant connect. The port 8096 is open.

Other server programs are still working IE:Air video etc.

I have signed out of emby connect and re signed in a bunch of times. Uninstalled the app and re installed. Same issue.

Ok this is strange! My Roku is on a totally different network I changed the name again of the server signed out and signed in to emby connect and it shows the new friendly name but again it says unable to connect. Since it sees the new name of the server it has to be going out over the internet so the ports and network have to be ok. It has to be an issue with the server(A setting that got changed somehow)

I am stumped on this!

Is the laptop able to see the rest of the network and use the internet still, I know it sounds stupid but you wouldn't believe the amount of times ive seen people accidentally flick the hotkey/switch to disable the wifi antenna/module.

Laptop is  wired  and always on. I use it as a server for Air Video  also and that server works fine as well as a few others.

Oh well back to the internet to find something else that works like Emby and Plex.

That would be your loss then, there is nothing that comes close to emby, most likely if the laptop is wired and all other traffic works (incoming and outgoing) on the laptop, if emby works locally on the laptop you can only conclude the problem is either a firewall restriction on either the server or client.

I know previously Norton, avg etc have thought emby was an issue (false flagging them) and breaking emby installs, but this would mean emby would also fail locally on the server.

Disable the firewall on the client and server and see what happens.

Double check the port and ip the client is using, try another device, phone, tablet, etc, something that has a web browser, can this connect to the server, ie is your problem just one client and not the server at fault.

If your using a laptop as the server I would consider either servicing the laptop at regular intervals (1-2 months) or think about investing in a desktop box you can hide somewhere. Laptops are not really designed to sit at 100% cpu all day. It will work but I can tell you from rebuilding enough laptops that its not really the best tool for the job when your asking for high demand jobs.

Are all these issues with Emby Connect?  Are you able to connect using your WANIP:8096?

No cant connect that way either

Then its likely your rouer either does not support or has upnp tuned off, did you manually create a port forward? Whats the make and model of your router?

Since you said, both iOS and roku experience the issue, its definitely something network wide. Why isn't your roku using ethernet cable?

But with wifi, you need to use FING to easily figure it out.

iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fing-network-scanner/id430921107?mt=8

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing&hl=en

Using fing, run the network scan and get the realtime IP's of these devices. Make sure they all are appearing. Using this is easier configure the router, and etc..

I use it after power outages all the time to make sure my router didnt assign everything new IP's. I have it set them all static once and remember.
