zidge1751 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I dont know what happened after the power came back on emby server started but now I cant connect to the server anymore.
zidge1751 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 have you ensured that it's running? It appears to be. I have even restarted it a couple of times is there a way to verify it is running?
zidge1751 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 When I try and use my Roku or even my iPhone I get server is unreachable or cant connect
zidge1751 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Can a loss of power to the laptop running emby cause a setting issue because I did not change any
Luke 42078 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Are you able to open the web interface on the server machine?

FLHTHEMI 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Just a shot in the dark--- Have you tried restarting the router?
zidge1751 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Funny thing is the power loss should not have affected the laptop only the hard drive where the library is stored!
FLHTHEMI 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Is this hard drive an external drive? I just had a problem with my zbox rebooting after a Windows update and when it rebooted hadn't found the external drive I use for data. But on my problem the coverart and all other images wouldn't display. Disconnected the external drive and reconnected and problem solved! Might not be the answer to your issue but worth looking at.... It sure seems more like a network issue to me though. Might check to see that the ports are mapped properly (http=8096 and https=8920) for the server in your router.
ryvanzandt 1 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) Did you check IP's? I have issues with a few rouge wireless devices taking static IP's after a power failure. My main Media PC doesn't connect after a power failure till I free up that IP. Edited July 24, 2015 by ryvanzandt

The port 8096 is open. Did you check IP's? I have issues with a few rouge wireless devices taking static IP's after a power failure. zidge1751 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 I tried renaming the server and when I went to Roku it saw the new name but when I click on it it still gives me Unable to connect
zidge1751 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 I have signed out of emby connect and re signed in a bunch of times. Uninstalled the app and re installed. Same issue.
zidge1751 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Ok this is strange! My Roku is on a totally different network I changed the name again of the server signed out and signed in to emby connect and it shows the new friendly name but again it says unable to connect. Since it sees the new name of the server it has to be going out over the internet so the ports and network have to be ok. It has to be an issue with the server(A setting that got changed somehow) I am stumped on this!
plazma 13 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Is the laptop able to see the rest of the network and use the internet still, I know it sounds stupid but you wouldn't believe the amount of times ive seen people accidentally flick the hotkey/switch to disable the wifi antenna/module.

Laptop is wired and always on. I use it as a server for Air Video also and that server works fine as well as a few others.

plazma 13 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) That would be your loss then, there is nothing that comes close to emby, most likely if the laptop is wired and all other traffic works (incoming and outgoing) on the laptop, if emby works locally on the laptop you can only conclude the problem is either a firewall restriction on either the server or client. I know previously Norton, avg etc have thought emby was an issue (false flagging them) and breaking emby installs, but this would mean emby would also fail locally on the server. Disable the firewall on the client and server and see what happens. Double check the port and ip the client is using, try another device, phone, tablet, etc, something that has a web browser, can this connect to the server, ie is your problem just one client and not the server at fault. If your using a laptop as the server I would consider either servicing the laptop at regular intervals (1-2 months) or think about investing in a desktop box you can hide somewhere. Laptops are not really designed to sit at 100% cpu all day. It will work but I can tell you from rebuilding enough laptops that its not really the best tool for the job when your asking for high demand jobs. Edited July 24, 2015 by plazma 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Are all these issues with Emby Connect? Are you able to connect using your WANIP:8096?
plazma 13 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Then its likely your rouer either does not support or has upnp tuned off, did you manually create a port forward? Whats the make and model of your router?
speechles 2055 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I tried renaming the server and when I went to Roku it saw the new name but when I click on it it still gives me Unable to connect Since you said, both iOS and roku experience the issue, its definitely something network wide. Why isn't your roku using ethernet cable? But with wifi, you need to use FING to easily figure it out. iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fing-network-scanner/id430921107?mt=8 Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing&hl=en Using fing, run the network scan and get the realtime IP's of these devices. Make sure they all are appearing. Using this is easier configure the router, and etc.. I use it after power outages all the time to make sure my router didnt assign everything new IP's. I have it set them all static once and remember.
zidge1751 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Thanx for all the help the problem was the windows firewall! 1
