mbc0 68 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Hi, Following a server crash I have rebuilt everything from scratch... sadly the server backup plugin for some reason does not backup my media identification? (It did restore most things though!) I now have a lot of unidentified movies due to folder names as in my movie library I do not use the words "A" or "The" I do not seem to remember this being a problem before but it has been a long time so maybe there is a setting that I just cannot find? for example /Movies/Drop (2014)/The Drop (2014).mp4 is not recognized unless I change to... /Movies/The Drop (2014)/The Drop (2014).mp4 Is this normal or do I have to rename all my folders/manually identify all the missing movies? Many Thanks
geaves 13 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I always understood that the folder should be the same name as the movie, I am new to Emby but I left my structure the same as I set it up for Plex and it's never been a problem, so your second option would be correct. Geoff.
ebr 16185 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 You can use the Identify facility in the web interface. Once you get it all re-identified properly, I suggest saving the metadata with the media as that will solve this issue for the future.
mbc0 68 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Hi ebr, I used to do that but prefer to keep my media folders clean due to drivepooling & it's duplication feature as all the themes/video's really build up with over 3000 movies & 500+ TV Series! Double problem as I cannot change the location of the movie/tv themes meta/video's/mp3's etc to my SSD drive on the server which would make more sense to me :-S Thanks for your replies guys
mbc0 68 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Also, surely it must be faster for me to store all the metadata on an SSD drive rather than my drivepool of mechanical disks?
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Also, surely it must be faster for me to store all the metadata on an SSD drive rather than my drivepool of mechanical disks? Not really because it is all cached. At least I don't have a problem. Seems your biggest issue would be the duplication functionality of your drive pooling software.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 If you don't store the metadata in the movie folders then you'll want to have the folders and movies named correctly. I don't think there is any real workaround for that.
