Convert Media and Scan Media Library tasks constantly running and bring server to a halt

I run Windows Server 2012 x64 with Emby.. ever since a recent server update, maybe a month ago, occurred.. Media Browser Classic/Theater + Emby is almost useless..particularly when the convert media and scan media library tasks are running.. eventually when they run on the 6 hour interval they bog down the whole server.. i cant even remote into the server.. i have to use the web admin interface and shut media browser server (emby) down.

I'm not even completely sure what the convert media task is doing.. (this appears to be a newer task, not in previous versions).. i'm assuming its doing something for streaming, but i'm not sure if it is storing files somewhere?

The scan media library just goes on and on as well. (actually it just sticks at say 37.1% and also if you click library.. at the bottom you see.. scan media library failed.)

Can anyone offer any tips here.. i could attach logs if need be.. (which logs)..

Thanks

you must have created sync jobs because the only way the convert task would do anything is if you had.

Where does that option exist.. i really dont recall doing this.. is it on the emby web browser where you can view tv/movies online?  Is it now necessary to do these sync jobs (by a user logged into the web interface?) in order for streaming to work.. i dont recall this being an issue in the past?

You can learn about the sync feature here

Ok.. thanks.. any ideas on why scan media folders is sticking or failing.. i'm not sure which logs to look into..

I have debugging turned on as well..

Currently i'm looking in C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\logs in my case.. i see files.. like server-6357312000.txt.. not many references in the log files about scan media library however..
