hifiaudio2 48 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I have Emby running on a Server 2012 server that also houses the movie files that is also part of a domain (the Emby server is the domain controller). So I entered path substitution as d:\media\movies going to the path of \\servername\Media\movies. Is that all I need to do? And then do the same for TV shows, etc? Is there anything I can test to see if path substitution is having a beneficial or detrimental effect?
ebr 16185 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 What apps do you use? Path substitution will provide a benefit for apps that can truly directly access the media over the network (Emby Theater, EMC, Kodi). When playing back with one of those apps, you should see that it is direct playing in the dashboard activity tiles.
hifiaudio2 48 Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Yeah Kodi (Emby for Kodi of course) and the ATV app on Shield. After I made that change, when I tried to play back something in Kodi it said it would have to play over http. Then I added the domain username and pw to the settings in Emby for kodi and that seemed to fix it. Edited July 22, 2015 by hifiaudio2 1
