_Dallas 0 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Hello, I'm having an issue, when I try to stream MKV files the window opens and just sits there with the video controls around the edge and nothing plays. When I tested this with an MP4 file it was all good and played away. When checking the logs there's some sort of error when it transcodes Error - HttpResultFactory: Error streaming data ... but I have no idea what it means which is why I'm here OS: Debian 7.8 3.14.32 Emby Version: 3.0.5675.1 Using emby Server with the web interface Both logs attached thanks for any help Server Log : serverLog.txt Transcode log : transcode.txt Dallas
Solution Luke 42077 Posted July 19, 2015 Solution Posted July 19, 2015 That's actually not really a server error necessarily. The vast majority of the time it is because the client sees something that it doesn't like and so it hangs up. In this case, your transcoding is only getting about 16-20 frames per second, which isn't really fast enough to result in playable video. So my guess is the client sees that and terminates the connection. So your answer is most likely figuring out a way to speed up or eliminate your transcoding. For example, your media is mkv with ac3 audio. If you instead went mp4 with aac, you likely would not need transcoding at all. Or there is always just getting a faster cpu. Or if you already have a fast cpu, then making sure nothing else is hitting it too hard while you're trying to play content. 1
