blade005 185 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Redshirt, UI Note. When I go into the menu selection for Audio or Subtitles I can't make out which item is currently selected. The radial buttons are dark, but so is the selection.
lightsout 156 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Is there a guide for live TV in this app? I thought there previously was. I can only find one if I select a channel first. I'd like to see them all together.
thefirstofthe300 292 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Have to say that I am loving the material design update...so cool. And thanks for the fixing skip back so it now actually goes back only 30 seconds.
jordy 284 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Just a note to say that mba just updated and the resume list only shows what it should. Having said that, I have never deleted any shows - ever - from within mb. So that may be a place to start looking for blade005's issue.

blade005 185 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 that was exactly my thought too. MB Andriod: 2.1.04 Still an issue for me. All of the shows that are incorrectly showing up in RESUME or Recorded TV shows. Items that I Record, Watch and Delete. This has not been an issue with Resume in the Android App until this latest update. It was working just fine before when I was watching and deleting items.

The radial buttons are dark, but so is the selection. Fixed for next update. The goofy coloring only affects clients using 4.x.
rikiwi 32 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Since 2 updates yesterday, playing Recorded Live TV virtually unusable. The recording plays fine until I touch the slider to skip past adds, then all other controls are locked, ending with a crash. If I touch any of the controls after a restart they are locked, same result - crash. BTW the fast forward and rewind (double arrows) have never ever worked for me. I haven't been upgraded to Android 5.0 yes so still on V4.4.4 I attach a clean log up to the point of crash. I have Debug - ON I have HLS - OFF I have S264 strict mode - ON Let me know if you need any more info. Up until the recent updates the app had been working satisfactorily. I love it.
Aeolius 6 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Trying to be specific here as much as I can, subtitles seem to be vastly improved, even able to support playing .ssa/.ass However when I'm playing them it doesn't just display the subs themself but also the information with it as in ... " {\an8\fad(500,0)\fs16\c&HECB000&\fn)"chinese characters"\bord1\be2\3c&H000000&\move(-500,10,192,10,0,1000)} ... etc, so all of them show up like that, english or chinese or both english and chinese.
blade005 185 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Yeah I've heard others rumble that the 1st gens shouldn't be getting 5.0. Google probably felt they had to update it since it's their own product. Well, my first experience was not positive. Not sure how a sluggish almost useless upgrade is positive. Quite happy with 4.4.4 for now. Will wait and see how the Moto X handles 5.0 upgrade when it arrives.
blade005 185 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Fixed for next update. The goofy coloring only affects clients using 4.x. Thanks. That would be me. Received an OTA update to Android 5 on my 1st Gen 32GB Nexus 7. It was incredibly laggy and after 3 days of lock ups and lagginess, I flashed back to 4.4.4 and a world of stability and responsiveness. Will stick there for good, or until a potentially kinder release is available for my aging Nexus 7.

CBers 7450 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 OT, but I have upgraded my Nexus 5, 7 (2012) and 10, via flashing the factory Images and all seem OK. I do have an issue where the storage isn't bring reported correctly.

Tranquil 94 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Since the latest update of MBA: Freshly added movies, where no thumbnail or playtime is generated, crashes the app if you try to play one of these. In earlier versions, playing the file was possible but no seeking inside. HLS is set to OFF, transcoding via Internetconnection. Edited November 25, 2014 by Tranquil

I received the official OTA update, but afterwards my tablet was almost useless. Launcher was crashing a couple of times a day, swiping down to get a task bar menu would not respond or take 10 seconds. Opening up an eBook that was download on my device would take 20+ seconds. Flashed back to 4.4.4 and everything is responsive again. Not sure what my issue is. I read reports and reviews that noted a slight decrease in responsiveness, but not the amount of lag that I was seeing. Glad it worked out for you.
dark_slayer 103 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 @@Redshirt Did this week's 2 updates include anything transcoding performance related? After your first major update (that included live tv about a month ago) I was still unhappy with transcoding performance to my lg g2 and 2012 N7. If I resumed from any point within a video the playback was an unwatchable slide show. Starting a video from the beginning worked fine I just tested again last night (both devices all the way up to date with your stable releases) and they handle resumes much more gracefully. Poor video quality for a few seconds, but that is to be expected. I'd prefer the way you seem to have it where speed is prioritized over quality initially so that my video plays sooner Long story short, I felt like I noticed an improvement in performance, but why?
Redshirt 1487 Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) Some of those features you mentioned are actually server related. The client just benefits from them. As for the unwatchable video during resume. Did you update your device to Android 5.0? Google broke HLS video playback in 4.4(or 4.3) and have since fixed it in 5.0. There's almost always performance/stability updates related to playback streaming though. Today's update, when it goes out. Will fix seeking for TV Recordings. Edited November 25, 2014 by Redshirt

blade005 185 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) An update went out several hours ago. Fixes/Changes Android 4.x devices no longer show the black radiobuttons for bitrate/stream selection Fast-forward and the scrubber should now work properly when playing Live-TV recordings Made a change that may or may not fix ghost items in the resume tab reported by a user Red, MB Android: 2.1.05 Android OS: 4.4.4 1. Black Radio Buttons are now gone and visible in latest update. 2. Ghost items in the RESUME tab are now gone and actual Resume items are being shown correctly. Thanks for the quick fix. Well done!! Cheers. NOTE: Have done some additional testing and I am finding that most requests that require transcoding are starting up a ffmpeg session, but it is not closed when the video is stopped. At one point I had five (5) sessions running with my CPU at 100% even though no streams were running and I didn't even have MB Android open. I tested the same files through the WebUI a number of times and found that each request would start and stop the ffmpeg session correctly. Let me know what information you would require to investigate further. Edited November 26, 2014 by blade005
