Trelane 38 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Hi, Is there a way to adjust the bitrate level calculations that Emby uses when transcoding HEVC to AVC ? Currently when transcoding my HEVC files to AVC for playback, it picks a bitrate that is just too low for AVC to give good quality and the browser dropdown limits the bitrate options I am able to choose. Thank you
Trelane 38 Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 yea this is something we need to work on. Thanks for the reply. In the meantime, is there a settings file that would allow me to adjust this or expose higher bitrates than would normally be shown?
Trelane 38 Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 What is the playback device? When transcoding I currently use a Web browser (edge, chrome), Windows 10 app, and Amazon FireTV stick..
Vicpa 611 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Hi, The Win 10 app should be able to play HEVC without transcoding what is the container and audio?
Trelane 38 Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) Hi, The Win 10 app should be able to play HEVC without transcoding what is the container and audio? Last I checked HEVC playback in WIn10 is broken as per the Win10 Feedback app.. but I will check it again.. (mp4 / HEVC / AAC) *Update - Yes just tried playing HEVC in Windows Media Player via MKV and MP4 containers, no video.. Both play fine in VLC Video ID : 1 Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main@L3.1@Main Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC Duration : 42mn 53s Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Writing library : x265 1.7:[Windows][GCC 4.9.2][64 bit] Encoding settings : wpp / ctu=64 / min-cu-size=8 / max-tu-size=32 / tu-intra-depth=1 / tu-inter-depth=1 / me=3 / subme=3 / merange=57 / rect / no-amp / max-merge=3 / temporal-mvp / no-early-skip / rdpenalty=0 / no-tskip / no-tskip-fast / strong-intra-smoothing / no-lossless / no-cu-lossless / no-constrained-intra / no-fast-intra / open-gop / no-temporal-layers / interlace=0 / keyint=250 / min-keyint=23 / scenecut=40 / rc-lookahead=25 / lookahead-slices=0 / bframes=4 / bframe-bias=0 / b-adapt=2 / ref=3 / weightp / no-weightb / aq-mode=1 / aq-strength=1.00 / cbqpoffs=0 / crqpoffs=0 / rd=4 / psy-rd=0.30 / rdoq-level=2 / psy-rdoq=1.00 / signhide / deblock / sao / no-sao-non-deblock / b-pyramid / cutree / rc=crf / crf=22.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / ipratio=1.40 / pbratio=1.30 Edited July 17, 2015 by Chairface
bleomycin 0 Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I'm also experiencing this problem using the Kodi addon. My playback device is a rapsberry pi 2 so i was hoping to transcode all hevc media being sent to that device. Unfortunately the only way i've been able to accomplish this is by setting the addon bitrate to 2.0 Mbit which looks and sounds terrible. Fantastic work on this project guys, please let me know if there is any helpful information I can provide!
