denethor 90 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) I was investigating Kodi with MySQL Wiki articles. Below option in advancedsettings.xml reminded me something funny:) <pathsubstitution> <substitute> <from>special://masterprofile/Thumbnails/</from> <to>smb://192.168.1.XXX/media/Thumbnails/</to> </substitute> </pathsubstitution> This means that you can share one thumbnail folder for all of your Kodi devices. In the mean time I have already redirected my Emby metadata folders to my NAS. I have checked the folder structures of both apps. Obviously they are far from being identical but I guess both stores virtually same data. So the question is, does Kodi add-on have any kind of control over Kodi thumbnail generation? Even if it doesn't is it possible to manipulate Kodi thumb links in the database afterwards and replace them with same files from Emby metadata folder? I know this is kind a overkill and definitely version 2.x kind of a request but it can serve the purpose of Emby being the center of user media libraries. Edited July 1, 2015 by denethor
xnappo 1611 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Are you talking about collection thumbnails or individual show/movie thumbnails? If the latter, you really don't need to have those sitting in your filesystem anymore, just let Emby keep the copy.

If so something wrong with my Kodi setups since I have thousands of thumbnail files in Kodi Appdata\Thumbnail folder.
marcelveldt 736 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Yes, that is Kodi cache... It caches all textures to a temp folder...
xnappo 1611 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Oh, yeah. Nothing we can do about that without changing Kodi. 1
