Hello,

This is more of a general question. I am trying to determine the optimal video codecs, bitrate, audio streams, etc that I should store my files in to prevent transcoding most of the time. The two devices I am looking to accommodate are Windows Phone and Nvidia Sheild maybe Roku.

I have so far been using MP4 and AAC/AC3 but they are still transcoding(Windows Phone only so far as I started last night). Here is an example:

Any idea why Star Trek can direct stream and Swelter doesn't?

Without logs it is just a guess.  But either Bitrate or Ref Frames.

I thought you had to use main as the profile and not high for most devices? I may be wrong on that though.
