Movies marked "offline". Stored on unraid

Recommended Posts

Hi

Quite commonly now when I open emby my movie covers all have a "offline" label over them. I think from a previous comment from eb1 that this is due to the unraid server being asleep when emby does a scan (emby server runs on a windows7 htpc, movies sit on unraid server"

I have had the same setup for years with no issue, until maybe late last year.

Any ideas on how to resolve? The movies still play, and the unraid box is always turned on 24/7, but it is an unsightly cover to look at....

Thanks

can you post a server log with debug logging on? thanks.

It's having trouble accessing some of your network paths. that will cause it to think the content is offline

thanks - odd it would not be able to access.  I can play the movies marked "offline" just fine.

I can open explorer and type "\\tower\movies\fantasy" and browse there just fine....so the network path is OK and working.

any ideas on how to further troubleshoot?

thanks

most recent log w/ debug enabled attached.   it looks like it is accessing??

that log appears to not have any errors. i can't really answer what's going on. perhaps try disabling the server's realtime monitor as a means to reduce I/O activity.

The first log showed all the stuff emby did today while I was at work. The htpc sleeps, emby wakes it for various tasks etc. the second log was after I rebooted just now.

I wonder if it has something to do with waking from sleep?

How do i disable real time monitor?

Thanks

Go to Library-Advanced.

The scan is probably happening when the server wakes up and before the network is initialized.

It seems like other people who stores their movies on a nas would be having this issue?

Is there any setting or something I can change to try and resolve this?

Thanks

I keep all my media on my UnRAID machine and I don't see this problem at all. My disks are set to spin down after 2 hours of inactivity

Spinning down the disks is not the problem - an issue can arise when the unraid server goes to sleep, as the targets aren't available at all during that time and possibly for a while after wake up until the network is up...

Afaik Emby doesn't yet support handling that situation yet?

Hi

So the theory is that emby starts a scan in the middle of the night while unraid drives are spun down. The unraid system spins up fairly quickly but Emby goes ahead and tags it "offline" due to the fact that it is not instantly available?

Thanks for the replies...would like to get this one figured out

Probably not drive spin down since the system usually blocks until they respond.

It is most likely what I suggested earlier.  When your Emby Server machine wakes, it is taking it a while to initialize the network interface and the Emby scan is happening before that happens.
