Emby theater doesn't wake server WOL WAKE ON LAN

I have Emby server on a windows 7 NAS machine and Emby Theater will not wake the machine. I have tried all 4 other machines on my network and also Emby connect to try and wake the server machine with no luck.

I can wake the server machine with a WOL program such as "WakeMeOnLan". I also tried my Roku client to wake the server, pointed it to the correct IP and port, no go.

I previously was using OMV on the NAS and Theater would wake that from sleep, but OMV didn't meet my needs so I switched software to win 7 Home premium 64 bit.

Local IP of the NAS server is reserved and all Emby Theater programs on all computers have been reinstalled.

Browser caches were cleared on all machines but still no luck waking the server with theater.

I am using Workgroup for my LAN.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

well, it's supposed to, so we'll have to figure out why that's not happening.

How can I go about finding that out? Any settings I should check or change?

Server is Version 3.0.5641.4  :::  theater version 3.0.5621.22052

Anyone have any suggestions to get this working?

it gets the wake on lan info from the server when you login, then uses it next time if the machine is unreachable. you can check the emby theater log to see the mac address it's issuing to

Any idea when Emby will be able to wake the server using a magic packet? Im using Emby almost exclusively now that Madvr is back however one item that is missing (that the competition does) is wake the server on command.

I hate the fact that my server needs to be on 24/7. Jriver can do it from the app and any client....

I use a startup VBA script that calls WolCmd.exe - a small binary I got off the Internet. Copy of the script below. This runs outside of Emby and sends the Wake On LAN packet as the client PC is booting so gives the server a bit of a head start boot wise. Not sure where I got WolCmd.exe but I am sure a quick search will find it.

xx equals MAC address

yy equals IP address

Script as follows

' run Wake On LAN command line

const wolcmd = """c:\program files (x86)\local\wolcmd.exe """
const woldir = "c:\program files (x86)\local\"
const opts = "  xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy 255.255.255.0 7"

Set oShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
oShell.CurrentDirectory = woldir
rc = oShell.Run(wolcmd & opts, 0, True)

Set oShell = Nothing
wscript.quit

The next update to the Emby Theater Windows Store app will have Wake on LAN. You'll be able to wake a server from the server selection screen. Just click on a server as usual, and you'll see "Wake On LAN" as one of the options in the menu for that server.

Enjoy.
