garethsnaim 0 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I have used plex since for ever and it picks up everything I have thrown at it. Today I got emby going and its failed to pick up around 20% of my movies. Perhaps I set the scraper wrong, I preferred UK for stuff and IMDB was not the first choice, so I have set them to US and IMDB as first choice. Now I want to rescan, but it just refuses, it seems to think 'i have looked at that file and am satisfied its not a movie' If I pick the individual movie and edit it I can get it to find the movie, but there are hundreds amiss. For the life of me I cannot work out how to force a proper rescan? These movies are named according to standard conventions. A lot of movies are just loose in the movies folders, do they need to be in their own individual folders? I even removed the movie library and re-added but this seems to have not worked with the same movies not being picked up. Is there any way to basically restart the scan, is the lack of success here just down to my choices in the scraper preferences, or is this just the way it is? Looking forward to test driving this, but was looking for a genuine alternative to Plex.
Luke 42080 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 you mean you set Tmdb as the first choice? Truthfully I would leave that setting at the default. I think is better to look at a specific example to see if there is a problem that can be addressed.
Raff 51 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 These movies are named according to standard conventions. A lot of movies are just loose in the movies folders, do they need to be in their own individual folders? It should work as this suggests with the files named properly. I personally use folder names so all the extra stuff (I save metadata in the media folders) is organized. You do want to make sure the parent folder is set to Movies I believe. Typically, when my stuff wasn't auto-updated it was because of the naming convention. Emby doesn't use IMDB because of license/ToS restrictions, so you may want to compare your names and years to the ones at the Movie DB instead. Is there any way to basically restart the scan, is the lack of success here just down to my choices in the scraper preferences, or is this just the way it is? Yes, two I can immediately think of: 1. Use the "Scan Media Library" task under Scheduled Tasks. I'd do this first if the movies aren't showing up in the Metadata Manager. 2. Find the folder with your movies in the Metadata Manager. When you click on it, you should see options for "Refresh" and "Advanced Refresh". The latter gives you more options with what to do with existing information. 1
