Emby for Kodi database

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have seen that at the moment the plugin for Kodi changes the database of Kodi (so it needs a refresh...)

I have seen that it is a new feature of the version 1 (of the plugin) so I guess that it was not the case for the old version.

Personally I would prefer to have Kodi follow my directories instead of merging all my videos (at the moment the series, films... are in the media section).

Is the old version of the plugin able to work by keeping the directories (so there is no need to alter the database as it is working perfecty with DLNA)? And if yes, where can it be downloaded?

I find it more useful to keep my structure like in DLNA or the Android application (for example) than have everything merged.

Thank you

Marc

I am confused by what you are saying. Just point your home menu items to the video nodes created by Emby for Kodi (Just launch Emby for Kodi and you'll see what I'm referring to) :). See? If your skin only works with playlist, then create a smart playlist pointing to tags is x(browse to see the list available). Hope this helps....

Hello,

Thank you for the answer.
I explained myself wrongly and I am sorry for it.

Here is a better explanation.

I have two media libraries. The first one is TV show. There are subdirectories (so for example)

SERIE1

   Season 1

      Episodes

...

The second media library is only Films

So For example
DVD Movie

   Movie1 (directory)

       Movie1 (real file)

   Movie2  (directory)

       Movie2 (real file)

HD Movies

   Movie3 (directory)

      Movie3 (File)

   Movie4 (directory)

     Movie4 (file)

Movie5 (file) if there are two movies (the first one then the next one...)

...

When I am on Kodi, I can see the same screen as you (Kodi is in the default values).

If I click on the Series (or anime...) I can see my directory structure (so I have Serie1, and Serie 2). If I click on Serie 1, I can choose the season... (it is perfect).

When I click on Films, I will only see Movie1, Movie2, Movie3, Movie4, Movie5... (I won't see the directories DVD movies and HD Movie, all the movies are together)

By DLNA the problem is not there.

Thank you again for your time.

Marc

Yeah that's not normal.... If they are split in your webclient, they should be split in Kodi too. That's how it is in your web client right? You ungrouped the auto grouping right?

Hello,

Yes, they are split (like I want).

The problem is that when I go inside a category (so when you go inside Movies)

you will see Movie1 Movie2 Movie3 Movie4 Movie5 and so on (all the movies are directly inside Movies and not in the correct forlder inside Movies).

I would like to see (as I made the flders in the library)

DVD Movies      HD Movies

And when I go in DVD Movies then I want to see

Movie1 (directory) Movie2 (directory)

And if I go in HD Movies

Movie3 (directory)   Movie 4 ((directory)

And in Movie3 I see the file Movie3

And in Movie4 I see the files Movie4 and Movie5

I have attached a print screen of Emby and one of Kodi  so you can see what I mean

EDIT : In the print screen you see that there is no mention of DVD or HD directories.

Thank you again

Marc

Hello,

thank you for your answer.

I don't want to see the sections separately in the main menu (I can see them under Video, it is good for me). The problem is that the content of all the subdirectories of one section is merged completely in the section.

Here is a print screen of my Kodi when I choose the categorie Video (with Emby)

With Titan the problem is the same (I can see Series the two categories in the main menu instead of having to go in Videos (but Kodi can go in Video immediately so it is not interesting for me).

That looks to me like the regular Kodi movies node.... Can you actually launch Emby add-on and from there, go in the Movie view? Is it different? Just to make sure :) Because the video node created by Kodi merges all the movies together.

Hello,

Here is how I go in my Videos :

Video \ Addon \ Kodi \Movies \ Movies (a second times) gives all the movies together (all directories are lost).

When I go to Movies directly I have all my movies directly (I guess that it is a shortcut).

I can do printscreens in all the steps if you want?

Thank you

Marc

Ok, I think I understand your setup.

Are the folders in your webclient screenshot, collections?

Hello,

Yes they are  in the post #5 (one in the web client gui) and one in the Kodi plugin.

Directly in movies there are two directories (HD and DVD) but in the Kodi interface there are no directories.
