Editing some movie's metadata logs me out

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Sometimes when I edit a movie, use identify, it pulls info, then click save, it will log me out of emby server.  I can go to a different movie and edit no problem.  If I were to go back and edit it again it will log me out as soon as I click save every time.  This happens every time for whatever title is giving me an issue.  So far it's just been City of Ember, Gamer, and Equilibrium.  I can go and edit 50 more titles with no problem then come back to one of those with a problem and it will still log me out.

Advanced refresh does not help. If I click on identify and pull from IMDB or TOMD (or wherever it pulls covers) I can see the cover and as soon as I click save (from identify tab) it logs me out.  So sometimes it logs me out when I hit save within identify or sometimes it happens when I hit save after it has pulled the info (supposedly).  This bug rarely happens but it's an annoying bug when I'm trying to fill in missing spots in my metadata from a new install.

All of my movies are hosted on MEDIA-CENTER-PC (read only) and running Emby server on a different PC that I use to do all of the administration on.  It has a custom local metadata path setup and usually works just fine.  My guess is it's not recognizing my custom metadata path.

the fact you're getting bounced out is a bug that needs to be fixed, but the underlying problem is something you'll need to look at. the server doesn't have access to do what you're trying to do.

Access to the path '\\MEDIA-CENTER-PC\C Videos\Equilibrium-fanart.jpg' is denied.
    System.UnauthorizedAccessException

The file doesn't exist on that path since no metadata is stored with my movie files.  That is a network path and all metadata is stored locally from the Emby server pc.  It's odd that it's failing in that way where all other titles are not.

I found a way around it.  Since my goal is only to update cover art.  I can go into images, click on the cloud icon, and replace it with something that is already there.  I imagine it will allow me to upload another image too if one isn't provided.  It will just take longer to do manually than letting identify do it.  I love the identify feature by the way it makes it almost effortless to pull detailed metadata.

I had a similar problem.  I had deleted some folders containing movies or tv shows via the filesystem before I used metadata manager to try to delete the metadata still hanging around. (Note that in some cases, I was moving the movies or TV Shows via filesystem into a different folder, rather than deleting them, and I had old metadata hanging around.)

Rescanning the libraries would not fix the problem, though moved folders got new metadata entries in their new location.

When I tried to use the metadata delete button the path could not be found, I would sometimes be logged out. At other times I would get a "File not avaialble on the system" type message.  In neither case could I remove the stray metadata.

I solved it though. When I recreated the folder names (minus the content), the delete button would properly remove the stray metadata.  But for TV shows, I typically had to create a "Season 1" subfolder as well.

This is definitely a bug that should be fixed.  Either the library should pick up on removed movies upon rescan and remove the metadata, and/or the delete button should remove the metadata despite the path/file not being found.
