Mediabrowser question

Hi there.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i could not figure out in which category i needed to ask this, but here goes.

I have been looking at the mediabrowser for streaming music to my phone when i'm out of the house, ie, on cellular network.

But all my music is stored on my readynas, and if i understand correctly, then i would have to install the server part on my windows pc to be able to stream the music to my phone? But i'm not really interested in having my pc turned on all the time.

So does the server (pc) has to be on all the time for me to connect? Or is there another option i have overlooked?

Have you checked the Emby website?

http://emby.media/downloads/nas-server/

Yes i have, but it's not available for my kind of nas? Not that i can figure out anyways.

I have kodi on a raspberry pi, and there is a mediabrowser add on for kodi.

But i'll still have to install a server on my pc, and then i can't figure out if the plugin only works so i can stream to kodi, or if it works so i can have the pc shut down, and still be able to stream from kodi library to my phone over cellular?

OK, so you need to install Emby Server somewhere.

The Kodi for Emby addon allows you to use Kodi as the client, but you should only need the Emby Server running to update Kodi's database as long as you don't use local paths.

You don't need Kodi to play music, you could try using the web client on your iOS phone, but you'd need the server running.

EDIT: Might be worth moving this thread to the Kodi forum ??

Precise.

If the kodi add on acts as the client? Does that mean i can turn of my pc? And still be able to stream out of the house?

Yes i thought about that, but i thought giving this a try first, since emby are the creators or at least hosts the mediabrowser.
