djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 New user just setup emby and got everything working ok so far on latest beta. When I first added my libraries they had all the cover art. Well something happen and I barely have any cover art now. The stuff that I do have are screenshots instead of dvd covers or posters. Makes everything look bad. What did I do wrong?
chef 3810 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) Try going to "manage server", then To the metadata editor, and select the "Advanced Refresh" button. Make sure you have the option to save metadata locally selected in your server. It takes up more room on your drives to save locally, buy you won't have this problem if you do. I think what happened, was your server couldn't update all the folder images fr the internet before the last media Scan. I think that will fix you issue. Edited June 14, 2015 by chef
djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) There is no advanced refresh button in manage server>metadata. I have a path setup for local images. Using beta Version 3.0.5641.1 There's no metadata refresh in this metadata manger page either including all the way over to the advanced tab. Maybe I'm missing something but it's just not there. Only time I see advanced refresh is when in metadata manager and clicking on a title. It only refreshes that title. I'm not going to do that 1700+ times for every title in my collection. Deathsquirrel 745 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 In the metadata manager click on the library level and you can advanced refresh from there. So, in your second screenshot, click on Movies. That will let you refresh all the contents of that library.
djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) Not seeing anything in library either. There is a scan (last scan: completed) but not refresh or advanced refresh. If Emby could look at good as Kodi with DVD covers that would be nice. Not a fan of the widescreen screenshots in Emby. Emby thumbnail placeholders are vertical which tells me that it should be displaying cover art but for some reason is displaying screenshots. Makes everything look bad. djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) Well after searching some more I figured out what I was doing wrong. There are 2 ways to get there. Method 1: Hover over movies until "more" pops up. Select open It will automatically take you to that folder where you can do an advanced refresh. Method 2: Use the mouse to pull in a menu from the left side of the screen and go to Metadata Manager. Click on the folder you want to refresh and you'll see the advanced refresh option there. Same way of doing as Method 1 just a different way to get there. So I'm good now and manually refreshing all of my content for my movie titles. Thanks for your help Chef and DeathSquirrel. djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Think I figured out the error after checking logs. 2015-06-14 16:58:17.9687 Debug - ProviderManager: Saving image to \\HTPC\Videos\Zookeeper (2011)-poster.jpg2015-06-14 16:58:17.9687 Error - ProviderManager: Error saving image to System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '\\HTPC\Videos\Zookeeper (2011)-poster.jpg' is denied. I have HTPC as read only. Running Emby server on a different PC that is networked to the HTPC. So I'm trying to save all the metadata on this PC instead. I think I have to uncheck "save artwork and meta-data into media folders" since my HTPC read only is obviously not going to let that happen. For security reasons I think it's best to leave my HTPC as read only anyway. So with that unchecked and using a custom metadata folder it should start putting metadata where I want it.
chef 3810 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Sorry I wasn't too clear about where the button was. I am glad that your art work is populating
djdevon3 8 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) Yup it's populating as we speak. My custom folder for metadata is growing in size and covers are starting to show up. Looking good so far. Will probably update my HPTC next week to fully move away from WMC+MyMovies for good. It's a needed upgrade anyway from a Vista OS. Hopefully Emby will be around for a while I love how feature rich it is. Will be becoming a supporter soon to get extra features. Takes a bit of getting used to, there's a learning curve to Emby administration with custom networks. Totally worth it so far. Kodi makes everything look so pretty locally too. Exciting times.
