Hitman36 0 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Hi, Can someone help me to setup lav for MKV playback in WMC/emby, currenty I've installed the latest LAV codecs for x86/64 but playing the .mkv movie does nothing but change to playing mode but stuck at zero. (previously used sharks codecs for mkv but want a minimum install this time) I found the setup suggestion page on here that has the following link, but get page cannot be displayed and looks like thehtpc.net is down for me? link... http://www.thehtpc.net/htpc-tips-and-tweaks/media-center-lav-filters-and-external-subtitles/ Edited June 13, 2015 by Hitman36
Crestj 68 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) That link seems offline again. I remember seeing a wiki page or something on this forum about the perfect, minimal codec setup for Emby for WMC. I'd like to use the LAV one but I guess the HTPC guy never got the page back online. Anyone know where we can get this info from now? Edited June 25, 2015 by Crestj
MrLinford 62 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I use Shark007 Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Crestj 68 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Yeah I use that currently but the setup is too flaky to get just right and wanted a much simpler setup.

There's this one: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/1096-setting-up-codecs-using-ffdshow/
Crestj 68 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I thought the LAV solution was cleaner and more efficient. Maybe just use the FFDShow solution then.
CBers 7450 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 The FFDSHOW solution does work - I used it when I used MBC and @@Cheesegeezer, the original author of the guide, swears by it 1
ebr 16169 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I'm pretty sure my configuration of LAV consisted of: - install LAV 2
Crestj 68 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) With complex installation procedures like that I think I'll just have to wait for the Wiki article !!!! BTW, I presume it's these: https://code.google.com/p/lavfilters/ There aren't different flavours? Edited June 26, 2015 by Crestj
Hitman36 0 Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 I'm pretty sure my configuration of LAV consisted of: - install LAV Worked for me, think I just installed and rebooted, works a treat without installing bloated codec packs.
Crestj 68 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Yeah that's what I used in the end. Just the issue with having to deselect ac3 to get proper 5.1 sound in the config and it's all good. So glad I don't have the codec pack headache to do! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
