What codecs are supported?

Just installed this, and while it looks and runs nice none of my 1080p movies plays..tv shows in .mp4 format seem fine but anything in .mkv or higher bitrate .mp4 and I just get a black spinning wheel. Also sometimes I get a Playback error - server inaccessable when trying to play a 1080p movie..which is strange because it's able to access it fine with other files.

That depends on your playback device.  Check with the manufacturer for a list of what's natively supported.

You should see transcoding occurring in the Dashboard if the file isn't able to be played natively.

 

Post the media info from the Dashboard of one or two of the videos that don't work, plus server logs etc.

We should be able to transcode just about anything to a playable format - unless you have a bunch of BD folder rips in VC1 and a low-powered server.  As others said, some logs and media info about the videos would be most helpful.
