Error Starting webserver (sometimes)

Sometimes I can't start the emby-server service because the port is in use. I have to kill mono so I can start the server normally. It's possible to have a check and kill the service on start?

Same error occured with me after both changing the port of the http and https socket as well as attempting to reboot the emby service from the webUI. My problem is not a sometimes issue.

I was able to manually fix this by going to 

/var/lib/emby-server/config/system.xml

then changing the HTTP and HTTPS variables off of 80 and 443.

Which distro are you using guys? Restart from the webui may not work right now but it should be fixed in the next beta release. At least on CentOS/Fedora.

 

@inesergio: how are you restarting the service?

I am using Ubuntu 14.04.

 

I am skeptical that this has to do with the way he is starting the service. However since I replied to a topic that was about 2 months old. I am guessing he fixed his issue.

Well, depending on the init scripts he is using and how is he stopping starting the service might affect. I'm just trying to dig a little deeper to help since I'm missing some background on the scenario where this problem happens.

Using sudo service emby-server restart

Maybe this was after using the Web gui to restart and sometime after using terminal. I never had the problem again. Now I only use terminal
