Trojan Virus?latest beta wont install

Recommended Posts

Guys, there seems to be an issue with latest Beta install.  My Norton antivirus deletes it on install.

This has caused me major headache. Have had to uninstall whole server. Stable release installs ok.

Norton finds SONAR.Heuristic.120 Trojan .

I got a similar error with Symantec Endpoint, but allowed it to install with no problems

These are the ones I found in my log from yesterday

[sONAR heuristic Submission] File submitted to Symantec for analysis. File : 'c:\users\rick\appdata\roaming\mediabrowser-server\system\mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe',

same here - deletes the main application. have had to reinstall the whole library - nightmare!!

also have 2 folders now - emby server and mediabrowser server - with the application still being installed in the latter. Surely there should only be one install folder created?

Who still uses Norton? Surprised they are still in business.

why are there 2 folders - emby server and Mediabrowser server created in Roaming folder on install - after updating to beta the application can no longer be found in either-  is update confused?

That is were they have always installed to and if application can't be found then it was deleted or quarantined.

Apparently the heuristic is a little too heavy-handed:

Over in the Unity forum, they are seeing Mono flagged:

This thread suggests that anything without 10 users/false reports:

http://community.clickteam.com/threads/82835-Norton-Security-keeps-thinking-that-my-applications-are-SONAR-Heuristic-101

If that is true, it is stupid. That is a very good way to make your product removed from a system.

I stopped using Norton ages ago for this reason

My Symantec gives you the option.  Well, actually in the options you can tell it to automatically take action or to prompt user what to do for these unknown files.  When it came up on mine I just told Symantec to ignore the error and that the two file were good
