Hi,

Just discovered EMBY and like it. I'm now on Windows 8.1 and will take the MS offer to upgrade to 10 when available.

So, my questions are:

1. Do you know if server will be compatible or you have a solution in August when the upgrade will most likely take place?

2. If I buy the 8.1 client in order to support EMBY then my purchase will be valid for Windows 10 or I'll need a new purchase?

Thanks,

Luke

pretty sure that there are a number of current Emby users who are using the Win10 preview versions and doing so quite happily. AFAIK, anything you purchase now will still be valid under Win 10. cheers

Just downloaded the server and installed on my win 10 PC all installed ok apart from 'Project Sparten' not finding Localhost for the setup wizard copied that into Firefox and all went well - Post install right clicking the emby server icon and configure sparten still can't find locolhost. This is a Spartan problem

Workaround untill spartan becomes edge:

Open command prompt as admin

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc947813%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

(Note Accessories. is now Windows Accessories.)

Now run:

CheckNetIsolation LoopbackExempt -a -n=Microsoft.Windows.Spartan_cw5n1h2txyewy

I Put 2 folders in Music and Movies

both plays fine in FF & Spartan after the above fix

Hi,

I have been doing a little testing. Given that 10 is still a preview build I am on 130. The server seems to run fine on win 10 ( a test box small library etc. The only gotcha is the new Browser Spartan/Edge doesn't seem to let you open localhost addresses. So when you double click on the icon in the tray to bring up the dashboard, it can't find it. I just changed my default browser back to IE and everything is fine.

The Win 8 client works great on win 10. Actually better, directly supports mkv's :) and few additional formats.

Hi @hedgehogg

Great Thanks!! :) Will teach me to read the whole thread carefully LOL

If you want to have a go at the Win app

goto

\Users\xxxxx \AppData\Local\Packages\436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_77hd5e1v1hqs4\LocalState

There you will find streamingprofile.xml

Add this line to the direct play section

 <DirectPlayProfile container="mkv" audioCodec="aac,ac3,eac3,mp3,mp2,pcm" videoCodec="h264,hevc" type="Video" />

the fix for localhost in this topic works , but has a weird side effect: it shows Spartan/Edge as Google Chrome inside EMBY..

That's because MS decided to change the User-Agent string in the browser to prevent websites from detecting it as IE and load "fixes" which are no longer necessary. Emby's User-Agent parsing needs to be updated to properly identify the browser.

Luke knows about it (if he remembers) but it's probably not that important and isn't an issue until July 29 anyways.

Nothing to do with Emby BUT Fun Is Fun :)

Get GoDMode

On your desktop Create a new folder and name it :

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Open and play :)
