Hello, have sen that when I am watching a video in DLNA on my TV (medion), the TV is not seen in the Active devices.

Also, the video is not marked as seen when watched (or in resume when partially watched).

Is there an option that I Am missing something?

Thank you

Marc

I can try and answer your question, although I have my own qualms regarding DLNA which I am trying to overcome.

Is your TV playing the film from the server or are you sending the command to play from the server to your tv?

Here is why. If your tv is grabbing the media because the server is saying to your tv "here is the item, and here is where it is located", then the server won't know you played the item because the tv is taking care of the playback. Therefore nothing is being marked as "watched".

Sending a play command to your tv is different.

The server sent the play command so it will mark the item as "watched".

I hope I got that right.

chef, you are right. when browsing via the tv, it is just something we haven't implemented yet, but will try to get to it soon.

Hello,

Just to revive an old thread...

Has this been implemented? I still can't see DLNA playouts in Active Devices (Plex does this very well).

I'm guessing it is the same reason for not marking watched items...

I'm on an LG TV 2017.

You mean under active devices during playback?

Yes. I'm using the latest stable Emby server.

Only playing videos through DLNA using the native player from LG TV (Photos & Videos app)

When playing, nothing shows up on the Active Devices in the Server's Dashboard.

Any news on this one?

Is this something that has not yet been implemented?

@@calexandre I've added some fixes for the next release of Emby Server.

It still depends on the features of the device, in other words, not every single device will be supported yet. Thanks.
