Scot 27 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Hi MB Team: Sounds like you've been talking to Martin and Sub over at NextPVR? I've been using Martin's X-NEWA with XBMC for a little while now (since they released 3.1.1 in October 2013) and it's excellent looks like it would be easy for your guys to implement for a Live/Recorded TV function in MBH.... Any progress or thoughts on this? -SM 1
Sven 136 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 As i can see in his comment. It must be some Martin. I am working on it. But i only can do it in my spare time ...... I don't have as much time as Luke and the others
ernstgot 17 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 could we maybe get some screen shots of the live tv and how it'll work. if its that far.
Scot 27 Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) The X-NEWA is a program plug-in (Python I think?) that just links to the web service provided by NextPVR (NEWA)....no need to program everything from scratch...just sends out nice HTML pages (or something, sorry no programmer here) that makes it look as if you're sitting in front of a NextPVR native client...it's much better than the Live TV option in XBMC. I understand the dev's might want to get a Live TV type of option that XBMC has, and I think that is good in the long run, however it is a huge job that will take a very long time. In the meantime if we could have a plug-in for say DVBLogic and NextPVR that will give people options and the programming time to support this type of system would be very rapid as you wouldn't be having to do anything like the type of work required to emulate a XBMC Live TV type of environment. I dare say could you reverse engineer (with the authors approval) the X-NEWA (for XBMC) and how it interacts with NEWA on NextPVR, no? See attachments, when I click on a link that I create on my skin to what I call "Live TV" it just brings up an interface like I am in front of NextPVR. Just my thoughts... ebr 16169 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 could we maybe get some screen shots of the live tv and how it'll work. if its that far. What he is working on now is the back-end server component which will provide the content. Then, the different clients will have to provide an interface for that content. So, no, it isn't that far yet.
Scot 27 Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 I'm not Martin, I'm just a dedicated user of NextPVR have it is really nicely integrated in to XBMC (and I don't mean by the XBMC Live TV Add-Ons) I mean via X-NEWA. To me, and I am not expert, it would seem a much simpler way forward in terms of a similar plug-in. Anyhow, if your new Theatre version of MB could support NextPVR that'd be really cool...whilst I love XBMC I don't like their inability to have a central dB for shared content amongst different devices, and whilst I love Plex I HATE their inability to recognise that people want to consume more than just download movies, what/rip their own DVD/BluRay's etc....Live TV is still and will be for a long time an important feature of any good home theatre system, in my view. So I was very happy to see that some of you guys have been asking Sub how to utilise NextPVR in MBT.... Any idea on a timeline?
