I figured that much about the shortcuts and thanks for the confirmation, trying to see how auto box works for me, can you put collections inside of collections?  Ex: "Batman" - Batman - Dark Knight ??

... any idea about the 7 minute delay and the CPU spike when I click on MBC or Home in the web interface.  But as I commented before and its the weird part is, it only does it when the music is added...

Guys please give me some input.. going crazy here... I changed all my folder paths liked you asked, got rid of all the UNC and and entered all the Path Substitutions and I am working on the shortcuts from 3D to standard counterparts. and  I have removed my box set shortcuts paths and have installed the auto boxset plugin which is cool, wish you could do Collections in Collections (I saw the previous threads on this request... any thoughts? anyway...) my 7 minute delay is gone... I now have a 7-8 minute library scan, with a 30-40 sec delay with 99 CPU spike when I click on MBC or Home in the web interface.  Music is still added...  I don't wont to remove it... I would like to get this working, I would possible like to be able to move some of my machines to Win 10 and I wont be able to if I can't get this to work...

I have have run rescans from where the Server had been running for hours and where I have rebooted it...

I have even attached screen captures to show proof of what my screens look like...

Are you able to tell be the logs what is being scanned at the 44% mark?  That is where mine really slows down for about six minutes then speeds the rest of the way through...

My scans have been slowly climbing... I am now up to 14 minutes...

you want to eliminate these log entries:

2015-06-08 18:09:01.7991 Warn - BaseItem: Unable to find linked item at path \\MEDIA-CENTER\Media3\3D Movies 01\3D\Movies - 3D\Oz- The Great and Powerful (2013) [SBS3D]

These are going to cause performance issues. If you have .lnk files hanging around with broken links, or boxsets or playlists pointing to files that are not in your Emby library, then this will cause that.

It's something we can improve in the future to try to prevent this from slowing down the scan, but that's the behavior as of today.

Ok... I ran a scan and copied every link out that had the reference "Warn - BaseItem: Unable to find linked item at path \\MEDIA-CENTER\..." out the weird thing was that some were repeated several times, which I had no links for.  I changed them to the corresponding drive letter or removed the shortcuts entirely.  Re-ran the scan and they were back...  Did a search by name and confirmed their was only one shortcut and did a search on each folder Movies01, Movies02, TVShows01, etc...  for *.lnk and had no UNC shortcuts all drive letters.  I do not know how or why these are being found... E:\Music\Oldies\Otis Redding\The Very Best of Otis Redding, Vol. 1... E:\My Music\Mixed Playlists\Rock Mix\Best Of The 80s  And I still get a 20 CPU spike when I click on Home or  open MBC

Confussed...  I left my Server alone and came back 5 hours later, woke it up and checked the log and it now only shows 2 of these"Warn - BaseItem: Unable to find linked item at path \\MEDIA-CENTER\..." errors, all the others dissappeared on their own and I did not do anything to it.  The log above is the one prior to this one... But the scan still took 9 minutes and 42 seconds... whats nexts to get me back to under 2 minute scans and no 20 second 99% CPU spike...

I still have a few showing and like I said above I can't find them by normal means... I am still trying... Scan still over 8 minutes with the 20 second 99% CPU spike...

So that I can verify that didn't miss any locations do you have any methods to verify by?  The error "Warn - BaseItem: Unable to find linked item at path \\MEDIA-CENTER\..."  is the source location... Destination in this case would have been more useful...

your log is starting look fairly clean. you've only got about 10 of those messages left. at this point, you might just have to accept that this is how long your library scan is going to take. So for you, the answer might just be running the scan less often rather than focusing on how long it takes. So I would suggest going back to post #30 and just waiting for us to improve it so that you don't always need to run the scan at startup.

But with earlier versions of the Server it had never taken this long before... It was always about two minutes or less... And never had had or should I say noticed a 20 sec 99% CPU spike.
