LASooner 24 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Set your preferred languages and see if that fixes it Edited November 21, 2013 by LASooner
steelman1991 19 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Thanks Space - sorry had gone off to bed before you posted. I am assuming that the subtitle stream in your screenshot is set to default (under 'default track flag' and that 'forced track flag' is set to no - no way to tell from here as you hadn't highlighted the sub stream before taking the screenshot). If it is set as a 'forced' track, I think you may have to change your LAV settings to 'Only Forced Subtitles'. As the Guru suggests though it may be worthwhile holding off till the app has matured, before tinkering too much - you're call though. There are so many subtitle permutations that it can become a minefield. Though in this instance I reckon a few small adjustments just might get you on the right road. There is no need to remux files, just make the changes to LAV as indicated to 'forced' then in mkvmerge - file\header editor, load the file, identify the subtitle stream, change to 'forced' and make language 'eng' (or whatever language you expect to see) - remember to save after making the adjustments, see if anything changes. You might also want to try installing xy-vsfilter as your sub renderer - again setting to 'forced' subtitles only. These suggestions are made on the assumption (perhaps wrongly, that you are a native English speaker and only require the non-english speaking subtitle parts). robnix 3 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I had the same problem. I turned off madvr and xy-vsfilter and forced subs started working as intended.
SikSlayer 249 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I'm happy I found this thread. I too am having this issue, and while I can select subs, they don't display. Not on MKVs, or the BDMVs I have. The subs are listed, I just cant see them. and the LAV Filter icon is in the tray.
Ghostm 74 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) I did have this issue, but i was unaware xy-vsfilter has to be enabled. Worked after that. Edited December 28, 2013 by Ghostm
steelman1991 19 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Ghostm - its not a requirement, but an option - glad installing it worked for you, though LAV should be able to handle subs as well, though as Luke reminds us, the app is still fledgling and will mature in time.
HomerS 8 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hi , what is status on external subtitles ? I been trying to get them to play but no matter how I configure Lav Splitter and xyfilter I can't get them to show. I noticed when playing trough WMP or MPC-HC that I get a "auto loading version" of xyfilter and then srt subtitles is visible. I can get external srt subtitles to show in MBT if I browse and select the srt file from inside the xyfilter tray dialogs. 1

KAOS 1 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I swear this was working on my instance of MCT - I know I've seen the Subtitles header on the info OSD before, but now I'll be darned if I can get the external subs (.srt) to show anymore, and I know they WERE working at one point. I've tried setting all codecs back to default, because the subs were working when I first tested. Any other suggestions to those above, as I've tried them all as well and still nothing.
Getumzz 13 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I have had a similar problem and found the PGS-Subtile causing the problem for me. I had to remux the MKV with a SRT-subtile and it worked just fine after that. Not sure if that would solve the problem in this case.
KAOS 1 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 yes they are You're lucky! I can't even get the OSD to show "Subtitles" anymore. The main movie synopsis has the "Subtitles" icon underneath it... meaning it can detect the sub file (I assume). But nothing when the show is running... :/
Shaun 93 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Hi , what is status on external subtitles ? I can get external srt subtitles to show in MBT if I browse and select the srt file from inside the xyfilter tray dialogs. We have implemented external subtitles in the next build using xyfilter. It works fine for subtitle files that are available via server shares i.e. \\server\share\dir\st.eng.srt but not for subtitle files that we have to stream. I am working on the problem and hopefully we will have it sorted by the time we ship the next build. 1
