space2001 18 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Trying to play Avatar with the subtitles and no matter what settings I choose they don't show up. I hit * and went to select the subtitles and nothing. Thanks for this program.
yardameus 221 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) See beginning of the MBT public alpha thread. I'm assuming these are external subtitles? Right now externals don't work. You could always merge the files into an mkv. I can confirm subtitles and subtitle turning on/off work with mkv. Edited November 19, 2013 by yardameus
space2001 18 Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 its a mkv with subtitles in it. Used makemkv.
Luke 42077 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 enable the lav splitter tray icon, and then use that to verify that lav is recognizing the subtitles contained within the file.
space2001 18 Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Yes lav is recognizing the subtitles but they are not being displayed
Luke 42077 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 are they available to pick from in the OSD using *?
Luke 42077 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 then it's something to do with syvsfilter. try fiddling wit that.
space2001 18 Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 tried paying with it still can't get it to work.
Morgian 7 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Same for me here, mkv-embedded subtitles do not work (they do on the web client). I'll try your suggestions later today.
steelman1991 19 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) space2001 - not convinced your mkv header settings or xy-vsfilter settings are correct. Headers can be checked by using mkvmerge/file/Header Editor - part of the mkvtoolnix package. If you want purely the 'forced' subtitle, you need to set the 'header', on the appropriate subtitle track, to 'forced', then save. MakeMKV had issues in the past correctly saving the headers. Try it and see if it helps. I also have xy-vsfilter installed and configured to 'only show forced subtitles' Edited November 19, 2013 by steelman1991
space2001 18 Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Tried remuxing and still no subs? this is weird. All my movies with Subs do not work. Any other help. Thanks. Edited November 20, 2013 by space2001
gcw07 347 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 A little OT but is there any key shortcut to change subtitles or audio track so I could assign it to my imon remote? * key brings up the OSD.
makakam 2 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 What I meant was toggling between subs or audio tracks with a key combo assigned to a particular key on my remote without having to bring up the osd.
yardameus 221 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Will it play/show the subtitles in Windows Media Player?

steelman1991 19 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 You got a screenshot of LAV Splitter config and/or xy-vsfilter config screens and mkvmerge showing a file loaded with the subtitle stream you expect to see highlighted?

Look up earlier in the thread with my screens. I tried John Carter which has alien speaking parts as subtitles. Does not work as well. Works fine in XBMC and VLC
steelman1991 19 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Those aren't any of the screenshots I asked you for though - they don't show any of the config screens or the mkvmerge screen.

Luke 42077 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 i wouldn't necessarily mess with your video files. this is all still very early and of course future releases will bring more stability. i am guessing it's something to do with xyvsfilter. 1
