Unable to play some home video clips & thumbnail image generation

Hi

 

I just added my main Pictures folder to Emby, as a "Content Type: Photos" folder in the dashboard. 

 

Also within my pictures folders are some small video clips taken on the camera. 

 

I can see some of these by going to the "Videos" area, but the vast majority do not show an image and do not play. 

 

For example DSCN00O16 I can play fine in VLC, but in Emby web GUI it shows an error. 

 

The file is an .AVI file. The ones that do have an image showing and do play OK all seem to be .MOV files.

Also in the Albums area, for some folders it does not generate the nice thumbnail images like it has for the "Cars" and "Family Photos".

 

EDIT: It seems all the folders that have a thumbnail image being generated have at least one image file in that root folder. Where as the others such as "Christening" for example only have sub-folder(s) that contain images but no actual image(s) files in the "Christening" root folder. 

 

 

 

Also whilst Emby is scanning the media library and refreshing guide data, the CPU on my little HP NL40 Microserver is like 95-100% usage with the MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe process, so it must be quite intensive now I've added my "Pictures" folder.
